Novena to Our Lady of Guadalupe for the Unborn

February 18th begins the novena to Our Lady of Guadalupe for the Unborn.

Those who are Catholic are encouraged to participate.

The following is a blog post from Diana Perez who contributes to Catholic Millenials on the importance and timing of the novena:

Recently, we have witnessed some changes regarding abortion laws in the US and México – and probably other countries around the world. I’ve had some conversations with friends and my church community and I feel there a sense of despair surrounding us. No wonder we sense this, but we as Christians should remember our calling to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world. That’s why we, the Catholic Millennials Team, want to invite you all to join us in this Novena to Our Lady of Guadalupe for the unborn, starting  (February 18th, 2019).

It is a simple prayer that can be prayed at any moment of the day, alone or in the community. Our Lady will listen to our prayer and answer it for the benefit of the Church, our nations and all of humanity.

The Novena.

For doing this novena you just need to pray the prayer of the day, one Our Father, one Hail Mary and one Glory Be and finish it with the

Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be and Prayer for the Protection of Human Life

Prayer for the Protection of Human Life

Our Lady of Guadalupe, we turn to you,
who are the protectress of unborn children
and ask that you intercede for us,
so that we may more firmly resolve to join you
in protecting all human life.
Let our prayers be united to your perpetual motherly intercession
on behalf of those whose lives are threatened,
be they in the womb of their mother,
on the bed of infirmity,
or in the latter years of their life.

May our prayers
also be coupled with peaceful action
which witnesses to the goodness
and dignity of all human life,
so that our firmness of purpose may give courage
to those who are fearful and bring light
to those who are blinded by sin.
O Virgin Mother of God,
present our petitions to your Son
and ask Him to bless us with abundant life.

Amen

Editor note: As we pray the prayer for this novena to Our Lady of Guadalupe for the Unborn every day, let us bring to mind a different aspect of the pro-life approach. This includes praying for women and young girls in crisis pregnancy situations, for pro-life politicians facing assaults for their views, for the abortionists and that they may have a change of heart, ETC. Although this is novena is not directed at the elderly facing the decision of Euthanasia, it would not hurt to keep them in your prayers also.
