The Down Syndrome Protection Act will be re-introduced as House Bill 321 (HB321) on Wednesday, March 20 in Harrisburg, PA. Before it is presented in the House, there will be a press conference to educate more people about a Down syndrome diagnosis, as well as the joys and successes individuals with Down syndrome have made in society.

Date: Wednesday, March 20, 2019

Time of Press Conference: 10:00 a.m. ET

Location of Press Conference: the Capitol’s media center in Harrisburg, PA

Additional Details: Mikayla Holmgren, the first woman to participate in a Miss USA state competition, will be a keynote speaker in attendance as this bill becomes re-introduced. Read more about Mikayla’s inspiring story in this online article from NBC’s “Today” show.

About HB321: Sponsored by Speaker of the House Mike Turzai (R-Alleghany) and State Representative Kate Klunk (R-York), the Down Syndrome Protection Act would ban abortions on an unborn child for the sole reason of a Down syndrome diagnosis.

Now more than ever, babies born with Down syndrome have the opportunity to live long, happy, and productive lives! Let’s send a message to our state representatives that children and adults with Down syndrome right here in Pennsylvania should be valued and protected.
