Below is a message from Catherine Glenn Foster, President & CEO of Americans United for Life.
The question is not whether we will be faced with extraordinary challenges. Instead, the question is, how will we respond when we inevitably face them.
I don’t need to tell you that our country is in the midst of a once in a generation trial right now. Americans United for Life has risen to the challenge. We understand that the dynamism of our pro-life movement demands that we work hard to protect life during this unprecedented crisis.
I invite you to listen to the most recent episode of the Americans United for Life podcast, “Life, Liberty, and Law”. My colleague Tom Shakely speaks with Dr. Aaron Kheriaty, director of the Medical Ethics Program at UCI Health in Southern California, on the medical situation on the ground in California. This conversation provides helpful insights pertaining to what has happened so far with COVID-19, while also offering a look forward to what we can expect. Dr. Kheriaty also shares his unique perspective on how physicians can operate from a pro-life perspective during this unique time.
I am also proud to say that our team just released a comprehensive statement of ethics with guidance for persisting through this crisis in a pro-life way.
Americans United for Life is also working with leaders across the country to ensure life is protected from its very beginning to its natural end. We have released three policies that leaders can embrace right now to protect life!
1. Encourage Government Relief to Focus on Mothers and Children
2. Disavow “Quality Adjusted Life Years” as a Medical Allocation Rationale and Refuse to Deny Lifesaving Medical Care on the Basis of Eugenic Attitudes
3. Ensure COVID-19 Response Remains the Number One National Medical Priority and Refuse Special Treatment for Abortionists.
If you are thinking of how you can help the cause for life during this pivotal moment, I encourage you to support our tireless work to impact culture and law to ensure that no one is forgotten and remind our great nation that everyone deserves our care and support.
