Please read the article from Judie Brown, President of American Life League below. And if you live in California, please use the link below to take the necessary action.
Should midwives become abortionists?
There are few pieces of legislation that I would call just outright EVIL. Yet the state of California seems to be in a race to push the boundaries of the diabolic these days.
California’s legislature is actively considering a bill that would allow midwives to perform unsupervised abortions. From our friends at the California Family Council:
“In 2013, California lowered the health safety standards for women by letting non-physicians, including nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and certified nurse-midwives do first-trimester surgical and medical abortions. State legislators are at it again this year with the introduction of SB 1237, a bill to remove the requirement that certified nurse-midwives be directly supervised by a doctor.”

Word from our activists in California indicate that this legislation even goes so far as to lay the groundwork for re-introducing second trimester “induction” abortions.
Of course, what passes in California becomes model legislation for state and federal lawmakers.
American Life League is committed to opposing SB 1237, so we are asking you to do three things right now:
- PLEASE CALL the bill author and the members of the Assembly Business and Professions Committee and tell them to vote no on SB 1237, unless they remove the provision of the bill pertaining to abortion.
SB 1237 author: Senator Bill Dodd (D-Napa)
Capitol Office: (916) 651-4003
District Offices: (707) 224-1990

- PLEASE OFFER A PRAYER RIGHT NOW that this bill will be defeated in California, for the victims of abortion, and for a TOTAL END to ALL ABORTION in America.
- PLEASE CONSIDER a heartfelt gift to American Life League’s mission right now.
The problem is greater than California. If legislation such as this one starts cropping up in your state or in Washington DC, we are going to have to unleash more than just a few e-mails.
That means radio ads, social media ads, lobbying efforts and the engagement of pro-life activists around the nation.
