Witness from Sidewalk Servant

The following is from an email blast sent by Deborah regarding an encounter a sidewalk servant witnessed outside of Planned Parenthood

One of the Sidewalk Servants, Bob, shared a story about a young lady they encountered last Thursday at 12th & Locust, and we wanted to share it with you. Please take a few moments to read it; this woman’s comment “I wish you had been here when I came before” is just heart wrenching… It is an encouragement for all of us to give a little of our time to be there for each woman and baby; they need us… Our presence can make all the difference! Please give a couple of hours of your time this week, and ask family and friends to join you or to sign up for a time also.  God bless you!
His story:
At 12th and Locust this AM, Rose approached and I offered her a brochure, pointed to the Community Women’s Center of Philadelphia (Women’s Center) next doorand suggested she could get care that did not include abortion there.  She was a beautiful and very mature young lady.  She smiled knowingly and said she thought she was pregnant, that she had taken the first part of the chemical abortion but thought it had failed.  She spoke of immediate regret upon doing so and said she was happy to be pregnant.
I expressed my hope and joy at that possibility, and encouraged her to go next door.  We also gave her the Natural Womens’ Health material from Dr. Monique. But she proceeded anyway to go into Planned Parenthood. I cautioned her to be careful that she not listen to untruths in Planned Parenthood.
I then called the Women’s Centernumber to prepare them in the event she came out.  When I was returning to the sidewalk in front of the Planned Parenthood, I saw Rose speaking with Bob G, another Sidewalk Servant who was there with me.  Bob was very encouraging and loving as he learned from her that, despite testing positive for pregnancy at home, she had tested negative in PP.  I also tried to be comforting, asking her to google Rachel’s Vineyard which she proceeded to do.  We also encouraged her to visit the Women’s Center, to consult on her situation and perhaps be re-tested.  She did, but before leaving us she looked at us with big, beautiful brown eyes and said “I wish you had been here when I came before”.  My heart aches.
Please encourage folks to continue to come out to pray and be there for these women. I found her story so encouraging. The women need us there!  Let’s be there for them.
Thanks to Pat and others for all they have done to be present during the first and hopefully only COVID storm in Phila.
Please pray for Rose.
Bob
