A chilly Saturday couldn’t freeze the warm spirits of thousands of pro-lifers throughout the greater Philadelphia area.
The morning began with a short prayer service in the Basilica of Sts. Peter and Paul Cathedral with the recitation of the rosary and the litanies of loreto and St. Joseph while a protestant group held a prayer service outside of the south lawn of the church.
Archbishop Nelson Perez celebrated mass with Bishop Joseph Coffey, auxiliary bishop of the military archdiocese, as the homilist. For Bishop Coffey, he saw the event as a way to recommit to the cause of life. He shared how God blessed him when Fr. Dennis Gill blessed him on Good Friday just before he was arrested during an Operation Rescue demonstration outside of Planned Parenthood. Bishop Coffey recalled that those events helped formed his call to the priesthood.
Following the mass and Protestant prayer service, everyone came together to peacefully march one mile to Independence Hall. Along the way, many stop to pray in front of the Philadelphia Women’s Center for a short prayer while Pat Stanton states the history of the facility that murders 6,500 lives annually.
Everyone finally gathered outside of the north lawn of Independence Hall to hear amazing testimony and even music from Jack Terzian who reminds people to be you and cool.
Alison Centofante of Live Action emcee the event. She shared about how she would one day meet her grandmother who chose life for her dad.
Ashley Garecht fired up the crowd by reminding them to not be scared by the bullies who want to stop you from standing up for what is right.
Dr. Monique Ruberu talked about the need of being present outside of abortion facilities in our area.
Reverend Herb Lusk III reminded everyone to keep up the fight. God is bringing about the victory over death.
Kathy Barnette shared that we must be louder in our convictions when speaking about the danger of abortion.
