We adore You, O Christ, and we praise You, because by Your Holy Cross, You have redeemed the world.
We know, Lord, that children are a source of joy and happiness; but they can also be a burden and a cross. They require many sacrifices on our part: our favorite entertainment, the books we would like to read, that new car, a vacation trip, the second income that a mother might have earned.
Children demand sacrifices of time, money, ease, and pleasure. They demand patience and consideration. They demand love at all times, in sickness and in health, and especiallywhen they feel alienated from their family and friends.
Reflection: How willing are we to bear the cross in our own life, especially when children are involved? Do we look for a painless Christianity without the Cross, the false Christianity without sacrifice that is sought by so many today?
Prayer: Lord Jesus crucified, have mercy on us!
