For decades, Texas has lead the way in its efforts to defend the sanctity of human life. On September 1st, the heartbeat bill has gone into effect. Despite a pea from ACLU and Planned Parenthood to the Supreme Court to dstrike down the law, five justices, including Amy Coney-Barrett (about time) has ruled in favor of the law.
The law, signed in the spring time by Governor Greg Abbott, protects the unborn child as early as 6 weeks following conception. It is a time of rejoicing for all pro-lifers. At the same time, we still have much work that needs to be done to cultivate a culture where all life is protected from the moment of conception to natural death.
Kudos to the Republic of Texas for leading the charge and continuing to do so for the unborn.
A beautiful spring Saturday dawned upon the 150 pro-lifers that came out to celebrate outside of the largest non-Planned Parenthood affiliate in the State of Pennsylvania.
Fr. Matthew Bierdrycki of the Basilica of Sts. Peter and Paul Cathedral delivered the opening prayer for all in attendance.
Those who attendant heard from speakers that ranges from seasoned veterans to young leaders on college campuses and just added to the fold a high school senior.
One in particular was Emily Jones. Jones, a senior at Mount St. Joseph’s Academy in Flourtown, spoke about how the inaugural Philadelphia March for Life inspired her to do more for the pro-life cause. Despite backlash, threats, and even the loss of friendships she endured, she kept the faith and helped revitalize her school’s pro-life group. She even signed up for vigil hours.
Two prominent college women spoke to the crowd, Karly Brown of Temple and Kassidy Johnson.
Johnson, a junior at University of Pennsylvania and member of Quakers for Life, shared how she was moved from her experience in Philadelphia. Coming from North Dakota which has only one abortion facility, Johnson shared how she knew that more had to be done to protect life.
For Karly Brown, she is no stranger to pro-life activism in Philadelphia area. Every Friday, her and Sean Garvey, both students at Temple would pray outside of Warminster Planned Parenthood. They both are now engaged. Congratulations Karly and Sean.
Pat Stanton goes on to share why our world should not tolerate the evil of abortion. Using examples of historical figures, he reminded everyone that each of them fought against the injustices of their time. He asked that we do the same when it comes to abortion.
Below is a reflection and testimony on a save that happened yesterday outside of Planned Parenthood in Center City. My hope is that someone would be inspired to step into the breach to save lives as I do with many of my fellow pro-lifers.
Today was a day filled with so much traffic. I remember people walking by shaking their heads in disgust of my presence outside of an abortion facility that is the epitome of White Supremacy. Even one person (Jacob )that walks the route along locust on his way to work, only to stop to snap a photo of me and send it to his friend Anna from (Philadelphia Women’s Center).
As I was winding down my two hour coverage, two young women were going in as I offered to them a blessing bag. They declined and went inside.
A few minutes later, those same girls came out two minutes apart. One of them was crying. I knew that it was my moment as I prayed the flying novena. After concluding the flying novena, the girls came out of the gate. This time, I wasted no time offering them life saving information. They thanked me for sharing and wished me a good day as I watched them walk away from the place.
If this is not why we are needed outside of places of doom and gloom then I don’t know what is.
And what amazes me is she went from tears of sadness and woe to leaving PP with a hint of hope for her and child
It also dawned on me that today is the Solemnity of the Annunciation. God’s sense of timing for yet another news worth of praise.
Please attend the closing rally outside of the largest non-Planned Parenthood affiliate in our city and state.

The Philadelphia March for Life was a testimony to the commitment of so many people to protect and pray for the lives of the precious unborn. And, praise God, these past weeks have been blessed in a very special way with mothers choosing life for their babies, and again this past week at 12th & Locust with a mother and father choosing to keep their child!
This would not have been possible if there weren’t Sidewalk Servants present providing them with the information and loving help that they needed!
So, please, please help fill the hours that still need coverage this week. If you or someone you know would like to learn more about how to be a Sidewalk Servant by joining some long time Sidewalk Servants, please let them know about Newby Saturdays (more information below).
More about the couple who chose life:
Sidewalk Servant, Mark, was praying outside 12th & Locust and saw a couple walk into the courtyard and up to the doors. He spoke to them saying that he had something very important for them and if they could please just give him a few moments of their time. And they turned around and went to speak to him!! He gave them information and told them about the incredible life the mom was carrying inside her. He let them know about all the support and help available from the pro-life community of incredible people who are there to walk with them and help them with whatever they might need. And, they listened and chose Life for their child! Mark got them all the contact information they needed and was able to spend time with them to continue to answer questions and support this couple and their baby. What a blessing!! Thank you to all of you who are present every day to provide hope and help to these babies and their parents. May God bless you!
NEWBY SATURDAY (Every Second Saturday)10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. outside Planned Parenthood at 12th & Locust Streets. Want to witness outside an abortion center when you know experienced Sidewalk Servants will also be present? The Pro-Life Union introduces “Newby Saturdays,” held the second Saturday of each month, for newer pro-lifers to learn by example, knowing they won’t be by themselves.

The following is from an email blast sent by Deborah regarding an encounter a sidewalk servant witnessed outside of Planned Parenthood
One of the Sidewalk Servants, Bob, shared a story about a young lady they encountered last Thursday at 12th & Locust, and we wanted to share it with you. Please take a few moments to read it; this woman’s comment “I wish you had been here when I came before” is just heart wrenching… It is an encouragement for all of us to give a little of our time to be there for each woman and baby; they need us… Our presence can make all the difference! Please give a couple of hours of your time this week, and ask family and friends to join you or to sign up for a time also. God bless you! His story: At 12th and Locust this AM, Rose approached and I offered her a brochure, pointed to the Community Women’s Center of Philadelphia (Women’s Center) next doorand suggested she could get care that did notinclude abortion there. She was a beautiful and very mature young lady. She smiled knowingly and said she thought she was pregnant, that she had taken the first part of the chemical abortion but thought it had failed. She spoke of immediate regret upon doing so and said she was happy to be pregnant. I expressed my hope and joy at that possibility, and encouraged her to go next door. We also gave her the Natural Womens’ Health material from Dr. Monique. But she proceeded anyway to go into Planned Parenthood. I cautioned her to be careful that she not listen to untruths in Planned Parenthood. I then called the Women’s Centernumber to prepare them in the event she came out. When I was returning to the sidewalk in front of the Planned Parenthood, I saw Rose speaking with Bob G, another Sidewalk Servant who was there with me. Bob was very encouraging and loving as he learned from her that, despite testing positive for pregnancy at home, she had tested negative in PP. I also tried to be comforting, asking her to google Rachel’s Vineyard which she proceeded to do. We also encouraged her to visit the Women’s Center, to consult on her situation and perhaps be re-tested. She did, but before leaving us she looked at us with big, beautiful brown eyes and said “I wish you had been here when I came before”. My heart aches. Please encourage folks to continue to come out to pray and be there for these women. I found her story so encouraging. The women need us there! Let’s be there for them. Thanks to Pat and others for all they have done to be present during the first and hopefully only COVID storm in Phila. Please pray for Rose. Bob ——————————————————HOURS HELP NEEDED:
