Archbishop Vigano Speaks Out Against Culture of Death in Letter to President Donald Trump

The following is from a letter written by Archbishop Carlos Vigano. Vigano broke the scandal involving Cardinal McCarrick in 2018. The letter was analyzed by Judie Brown, which has been posted to the blog.

Archbishop Carlos Maria Vigano has just released one of the most explosive and prophetic letters in a generation to President Trump!

Vigano not only mentions the impact of the “deep state” and its role in maligning and distorting Catholic teaching, but he also offers tremendous hope to faithful pro-life Catholics in America:

“It is necessary that the good, the children of light, come together and make their voices heard. What more effective way is there to do this, Mr. President, than by prayer, asking the Lord to protect you, the United States, and all of humanity from this enormous attack of the Enemy?

Before the power of prayer, the deceptions of the children of darkness will collapse, their plots will be revealed, their betrayal will be shown, their frightening power will end in nothing, brought to light and exposed for what it is: an infernal deception.”

— LifeSiteNews (07  June 2020)

Meanwhile, what is ‘Uncle Ted’ McCarrick’s hand picked successor up to?

Rather than protest the nearest Planned Parenthood, Archbishop Wilton Gregory ordered the priests and bishops of the Archdiocese of Washington to protest President Trump at a rally in Lafayette Park.

“Of the about 200 priests and nuns, dressed in clerical garb, who showed up, many carried politically charged signs. One Dominican sister held a sign reading, “I repent of my racism.” A Franciscan brother lifted a crucifix aloft, while a man walking behind him raised two messages, one reading “Trump mocks Christ,” the other saying, “Barr is complicit.”

— Washington Examiner (08  June 2020)

When was the last time you saw the likes of Archbishop Gregory or any of McCarrick’s “men” protest Planned Parenthood with this sort of energy?

Vigano is right about the enemies within.  We live in dark times.

. . . but Vigano is also right to sound the call to arms

Society either recognizes the profound, inherent, moral and equal dignity of every human person or it does not.  That was the moral leadership of Pope Saint John Paul II.

Cupich, Gregory, Dolan, Wuerl and the whole host of “men” who protected sexual predator and disgraced former Cardinal Theodore ‘Uncle Ted’ McCarrick aren’t practicing the Catholic faith — they are selling out to the highest bidder, and the babies are their victims.

You and I know this fight is coming.  In fact, it is already here.

That’s why I urgently need your support right now with a gift of $35, $50, $100 or even $250 or $500 right away.

The truth is that babies are dying, and rather than stop the killing these pro-abortion Catholic bishops would rather protest the most pro-life president we have ever had in service to a leftist political agenda.

They’ve closed our parishes.  They’ve denied faithful Catholics the sacraments. . . but they can pile in together at Lafayette Park in service to a political agenda?!   When was the last time Gregory protested an abortion center with this much energy? (HINT: the answer is never)

ENOUGH.

Vigano’s prophetic words deserve our support.   I’m going to take it right into the teeth of these whiny, spineless bishops until they DEFEND THE EUCHARIST and ENFORCE CANON LAW 915.

Good Shepherds, Rise Up! Speak Out Against Abortion

A recent post on our blog shared a study that is appalling. It shared the percentage of sermons and homilies that focus on the issue of abortion.

Is it any coincidence that this study is shared on readings that speak volumes on Good Shepherd Sunday? The last line of John’s Gospel in today’s gospel for this Sunday says it all: “I came so that they might have life and have it more abundantly.” John 10:10

Our culture needs more members of the clergy to be vocal in the defense of human life.

To members of the clergy, the time to appease your flock is over. It is time to be bold. It is time to overcome the fear of living out your call to spread the gospel with truth, love, and mercy.

Father Frank Pavone of Priests for Life has excellent sources on how to do so. Here is a collection of homilies Purchase his book, Proclaiming the Message of Life: Weekly Reflections from the Lectionary, here.

Abortion Clinics Remain Open During COVID-19, While I Was Arrested for Praying Outside of One

The following is a blogpost on Alliance Defending Freedom from David Benham who is sharing about his arrest outside of an abortion facility in North Carolina.

I still remember the night.

I was 15 years old when Norma McCorvey came walking through our front door with her then-partner, Connie Gonzales. The fact that we were hosting guests for dinner wasn’t unique. We were preacher’s kids, so our door was basically always revolving.

But this night was different. On this night, God was doing something amazing—something only He could do.

Legacy of Life

The woman that my family affectionately knew as “Ms. Norma” is more widely known by her pseudonym, “Jane Roe.” Norma McCorvey was the “Roe” of the infamous U.S. Supreme Court case Roe vs. Wade, which legalized abortion in the United States. Through the faithful witness of my dad, Norma met Jesus. Several weeks later Norma was baptized, and Jason and I helped move her stuff out of Connie’s house.

Norma wasn’t the exception. We regularly witnessed the Gospel pervade the darkness of those affected by abortion. My dad committed himself to standing for the unborn as a full-time ministry, and this commitment was a family affair.

Our dad’s vigor for life was contagious. From a young age, he instilled in us that defending the defenseless wasn’t just a duty, it was an honor. He told us that if our theology wasn’t our biography, then our theology was worthless—because Jesus cared for the “least of these,” so must we.

Leverage for Life

After retiring from professional baseball, Jason and I moved to Charlotte and immediately noticed two things:

  1. There were three thriving abortion clinics.
  2. There was a desperate need for a network of life-affirming organizations.

As our business continued to grow, the Lord made it clear He wanted us to leverage our influence and resources to mobilize Christians to stand up for life. We didn’t know exactly what this would look like, but we knew that we had been called for such a time as this.

In 2010, we joined hands with business owners and local churches and started a non-profit called Cities4Life. We were driven by the vision that true compassion always leads to action. We didn’t want to just stand against abortion, we wanted to embody the life-giving actions of the Good Samaritan.

Practically, this looks like reaching down into a place of pain, tending to any wounds, taking them to an inn, and providing intentional follow up. Vulnerable women visiting abortion clinics need the warmth and love of Jesus regardless of whether they are walking in or out of that place.

Since 2010, we’ve had the privilege of serving over 5,000 women. But in ten years, we never encountered anything like we experienced earlier this month.

Locked up for Life

On Saturday, April 4, 2020, I was standing on a public sidewalk outside an abortion clinic here in Charlotte when I was unlawfully arrested.

Earlier that morning, I had received a call saying that the police were threatening to arrest our sidewalk counselors from Cities4Life. The police claimed that we were in violation of the “shelter-in-place” ordinance put in place in response to COVID-19.

I knew immediately that the authorities had no grounds for an arrest. Because we’re a federally recognized 501(c)3 that provides life-affirming social services to women in crisis, our services are classified “essential” under the ordinance. So we had a legal and constitutional right to be there. And on top of that, as an “essential” service, we could have been there with more than ten people. Out of concern for our sidewalk counselors and our community, however, we stayed under ten in number, maintaining social distancing the entire time.

I respectfully explained all of this to the officer, but to no avail.

As they cuffed me, I couldn’t help but recall the countless hours that I watched my dad standing on similar sidewalks, proclaiming life in the midst of death. It was a surreal experience, to say the least. Only two hours earlier, I had been sitting on my couch, Bible and coffee in hand, getting ready for a day with the family. Now those same hands were pressed behind my back going numb from the tight grasp of the cuffs.

I am grieved that our local government is employing the coronavirus as an illegitimate excuse to silence the voices of pro-life people. This is nothing less than viewpoint discrimination. Abortion clinics are flooded with people receiving so-called “essential” services, while peaceful counselors are arrested for offering truly essential services.

That’s why, with the help of Alliance Defending Freedom, we filed a lawsuit against the City of Charlotte. If abortion clinics can stay open during the pandemic, Christians should be allowed to pray outside—particularly those abiding by health and safety guidelines.

Today, we continue to partner with numerous ministries and local churches to help bring mothers to a place of hope and healing. Opposition will not dissuade us in this fight. In fact, we are invigorated all the more to be a voice for the voiceless. We pray you’ll join us!

Prayer Vigil to be Held at Site of Vandalism at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Buckingham Township, Pennsylvania

crosses

As the abortion battle heats up and we get closer to Roe v Wade being reversed, we are seeing and experiencing hate crimes committed against pro-life advocates and pro-life materials at an ever increasing rate.

We have read stories on Life News about pro-life signs being destroyed, pro-life prayer warriors being assaulted and in our own area one of our state legislators even went so far as to verbally harass and dox a middle age woman and three teens.

This past weekend, vandals struck again at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church  in Central Bucks County, destroying many of the memorial crosses we have on our grounds at the corner of Route 413 and Cold Creamery Roads. These crosses are put up each year to remember the lives taken through abortion since 1973.

Our first reaction was shock, then anger.  How do we get past this anger?   Through prayer!

Please join us for a prayer vigil on Saturday, October 19th at 12 noon at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church at the same corner where our memorial crosses are placed. (map)

Our intention is two-fold, to prayer for the person(s) who committed this destruction, and to give witness to the community that, in the words of Father Pavone’s  Prayer to End Abortion, ‘we will never be silent, never be passive, never be forgetful of the unborn.  That we will commit ourselves to be active in the pro-life movement, and never stop defending life until all our brothers and sisters are protected, and our nation once again becomes a nation with liberty and justice not just for some, but for all’.

Facebook Suppresses Pro-Life Group Live Action Based on ‘Fact-Checkers’

“The intent of a delivery is to produce, if possible, both a live baby and live mom,” affirmed Harrison. “The intent of an abortion is to produce a dead baby.”

This Breitbart article, authored by Alana Mastrangelo, reports on Facebook’s continuing efforts to silence pro-life groups such as Live Action.

“Facebook has informed us that the page of Live Action President Lila Rose, and any links to our website now have ‘reduced distribution and other restrictions because of repeated sharing of false news,’” said Live Action to Breitbart News.

The organization added that in addition to “reduced distribution,” Facebook had also notified Live Action and its founder’s combined 3 million followers that they had shared “false news.”

“Your Page has violations,” read an alert sent to Rose from Facebook alert sent to Rose. “Your page has reduced distribution and other restrictions because of repeated sharing of false news. People will also be able to see if a Page has a history of sharing false news.”

According to Live Action, the content marked “false” by Facebook had been two videos affirming that “abortion is never medically necessary.” One video featured neonatologist Dr. Kendra Kolb discussing the topic. The second video showed a recent speech by the organization’s founder speaking on the same subject.

Live Action told Breitbart News that Facebook’s third-party “fact-checking” consisted of an article that quoted two abortionists — Daniel Grossman and Robyn Schickler — “who both have a vested interest in profiting off of the procedure.”

A section of the abortionists’ quotes read as follows:

While it is possible for early delivery to preserve both the life of the mother and child in the event of a life-threatening condition, as the video suggests, it does not mention that this is only applicable when a fetus’ gestational age is advanced enough that its survival outside the womb is possible (generally >24 weeks old). In situations where a fetus has not developed sufficiently, it would not be possible for expedited delivery to save its life.

“And yet, this is exactly what one of the videos flagged says,” reacted Live Action, noting that in the video featuring Kolb, the doctor acknowledges that “some babies do need to be delivered before they are able to survive outside of the womb,” adding that those situations, however, are considered “a preterm delivery, not an abortion.”

“In the other video flagged, Lila makes it clear that preterm delivery is not abortion, even if the child does not survive,” added Live Action.

“Furthermore, she makes it clear that in cases where it is certain the baby cannot survive, such as ectopic pregnancy, removing the child from the womb is still not abortion. Abortion is the direct and intentional killing of the preborn child.”

Rose attests that thousands of OB-GYNs and other medical professionals around the world agree with Live Action’s position that “abortion is never medically necessary.”

Coinciding with Rose’s assertion, the executive director of the American Association of Pro-Life ObGYNS (AAPLOG), Dr. Donna Harrison, released a statement on Friday in response to Facebook’s so-called “fact-checking” of the pro-life content.
