My First CPAC Experience

Last week, I attended CPAC for the first time. This year it was held in Orlando due to the restrictions from its preceding location in Baltimore.

The event gathers thousands of like-minded conservatives from all across the United States and even parts of the world. Those in attendance got to hear from elected officials and even personalities in conservative media.

Below is my review of the event.

Hits

The even proves that big gatherings can be held as we navigate past COVID. Florida has been open for business and it was an outstanding choice on their part to allow tourism and event large events happening. Yes, Karen, people were wearing masks when walking around.

Many topics were covered during the event, especially our bill of rights. Many elected officials have taken time to talk about what is plaguing our country.

The ecumenical committee is growing at CPAC, particularly among Jewish, Catholics, and Protestants. Even Fr. Frank Pavone was present to celebrate mass for Catholic attendees.

A great red carpet of the upcoming Roe v Wade movie.

Misses

The only miss that is worth nothing is the results of a straw poll conducted by The Washington Times. The poll was to gauge attendees on the top three issues pressing them. Surprisingly, the recent election and its integrity was Number one with almost 70% of the votes. The issue that came in last was pro-life. How disappointing.

Overall, I do recommend attending. Pro-Lifers should not pass on a chance to connect with other pro-lifers and hopefully we can make this a more pressing issue.

Roe V Wade Movie Slated for April Premiere; Learn How to Support It

Last night, the Red Carpet was rolled out for the screening of Roe V Wade. The film tackles the true debate that happened with the landmark Supreme Court of the United States.

The movie is the first feature length film that lays out the actual facts about the controversial decisions casted down by the Supreme Court.

The movie followed the storylines of Dr. Bernard Nathanson and Dr. Mildred Jefferson who were the two central figures of the national debate, both of late. Nathanson is known as the founder of NARAL (National Abortion Rights Action League). He was the trailblazer that saw New York pass legalized abortion that paved the way for Texas to make vits case all the way through the Supreme Court.

Meanwhile, Jefferson, the first African American to graduate with a medical degree from Harvard, would be pulled into the debate as she saw abortion for what it is, murder. She would be the founding pioneer of National Right to Life.

The movie is slated for release on April 2nd.

HOW CAN WE SUPPORT THIS PROJECT?

Cheri Ballinger, the executive producer of the project, was honored to have been a part of the project. She encourages everyone to host a screening of the film in their communities. While some theaters cannot reopen or are likely to close, she does encourage everyone to host either a virtual screening, location screening in your community, or a theater screening in your area. Fundraising is encouraged.

“Film is such a beautiful medium to inspire people and share the truth” Ballinger shared. “A lot of work and film and funds were put into making this film possible.

See this remarkable movie that is much needed. Host a screening. Let us get behind this timely movie that spills the truth of the actual decision.

The Anti-Life Agenda of Xavier Becerra

Pro-Lifers and every American should be more concerned as the Biden Administration continue to to add another so called “Catholic” to a scandalous cabinet. The agenda is simple; death.

His nominee to fill the HHS Department favored euthanasia in San Francisco. In addition to euthanasia, Becerra is also in favor of coercive action towards religious groups.

Becerra even went after David Daleiden when he took over for Vice President Kamala Harris. The crime? Exposing his ally, Planned Parenthood.

This move from the Biden Administrations shows that he is out of touch, not a Catholic, and has nothing real in store for our country.

40 Days Call in Philadelphia

Once again we are asking for pro-life warriors in Southeast Pennsylvania to join the 40 Days for Life Campaign in center city Philly.  Below is a message from Ted Meehan looking for  help from us at the Planned Parenthood on Locust Street.  Please pray and consider committing to join this campaign to witness outside this killing center.  Your prayers and presence do help to save lives.

Center City Philly

Jesus told us that “the Gates of Hell will not prevail against you”. Until a few years ago, I pictured the Gates of Hell coming to attack, and wad comforted that they would not overwhelm me. But in Jesus’ time, the Gates were the protection from invading forces. To understand this is to realize that when Jesus promises that the Gates of Hell will not prevail against us, He is calling us to CONFRONT the Gates of Hell! If we confront Evil, it cannot prevail. Only if we remain in our comfort zone, can the Gates of Hell prevail. So we must get out and confront Evil where it is!

I ask each of you to sign up for at least one hour, on one day during Lent to stand before the Gates of Hell. They cannot prevail against us!

In Philadelphia, at 12th & Locust, or at 8th & Appletree, there is the greatest need for our help. God bless Pat Stanton and Monique Ruberu for sacraficially reaching out to recruit good people – not just for 40 days, but for 320 days! They strive to cover the two most infamous killing centers in Pennsylvania. It would lighten their load – a little bit – if you could witness at one of these two locations. But any witness at any abortion center will be a blessing.

Take a moment now to sign up by going to: https://www.40daysforlife.com/local-campaigns/philadelphia/

Ask a fellow pro-life parishioner to join you to pray for 1 hour. You will be blessed, and you may be used by the Holy Spirit to save a life. Your presence is your witness for Life. Those who see you will be changed. They may not realize it, but they will be.

For those of you who head up a parish group, consider gathering others from your parish to take a full day. 8am to 5pm. 9 hours.

Successful Newbie Saturday; Moment of Grace with PP Escort

The following is from an email blast sent by sidewalk servant coordinator Deborah Molina. She recapped a very successful Newbie Saturday that took place outside of Planned Parenthood in Center City Philadelphia.

“It was Newbie Saturday this week and 6 new brave Sidewalk Servants ventured to 12th and Locust to pray together for the end of abortion!

As we stood there together, between the prayers, I instructed them on why we were there… That it is a spiritual warfare more than a warfare between “us” and “them”. We are not there to hate anyone. We are there as instruments of love to show love and compassion to the moms, the dads, the friends, the abortion escorts, the workers and the abortion provider. We are to speak the truth in LOVE. Sharing that there are other options, there is another way and we want to help them and walk with them.
I let them know that although what we are doing is right and just, some may be offended and disgusted by it. They may say unkind and cruel things; but our role is to pray for them. Hatred and anger only comes from a place of hurt, guilt and sadness. Pray for their healing and that their eyes may be opened to the truth.

While we were there we said multiple rosaries; at one point we began to go around the circle and share intentions with every Hail Mary prayer. I was standing next to the Planned Parenthood escort. When my turn was done we all turned to the escort… “It’s your turn escort… how can we pray for you? She stumbled saying “…um…. aaah…”,  and then our leader said – “Ok we will pray for your family and your friends. “ and we did.

Again we went around the circle three more times. Each time we came to her we offered her the chance to pray, and then we prayed for her; for peace, for love, for strength, that she may be close to the Lord, for her deepest desires, for those she loves. It was the most beautiful way I have ever prayed for the escorts; I highly recommend it. It was including her in the prayer, and I believe the part of her, the light created by God, her goodness and kindness, was being touched and flourishing in that moment of prayer.

Rush Limbaugh Dead at 70

Many conservatives mourn the loss of Rush Limbaugh, a conservative radio host. Limbaugh lost his battle to lung cancer today at the age of 70.

He is known for attacking the ideas of the far left and even many liberal politicians. At the same time, he was falsely labeled as a hypocrite by many who despised his views and even the valid points he made time after time. Unfortunately, his death was met with celebration by those on the left side of the spectrum that comments on Twitter was filled with so much hatred.

The good news is that he was met by praise, particularly by former President Donald J Trump. He stood for everything that America, “has stood for.” He was a guiding light to truth. In 2020, Former President Trump awarded Rush the Medal of Freedom following his stage four cancer diagnosis.

One thing that set Rush apart from other commentators is his tenacity for the defend of the unborn. He admitted that abortion is why the country is wrong at its root in this country.

For anyone using this time to dance on his gravce or labeling him a hypocrite (which I’m sure you are one as we were reminded in the gospel chosen for Ash Wednesday), I offer a few words from a talented journalist:

“You are the cancer that eats away at our virtue. You are the toxins in our societal bloodstream. You are the children of the Church Of No Rules. You are the sickness with no antidote. You are the flaming torches and flaring nostrils of another Guernica. You are what, and why, Rush was necessary. And why he will never be forgotten.”

May Rush Hudson Limbaugh rest in the heavenly arms of Jesus.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord. And let the perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and souls of the faithfully departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

Well donegood and faithful servant” Matthew 25:23

CANCEL CULTURE STRIKES AGAIN

This week we have seen the cancel culture from both sides of the spectrum while a partisan response in one. Here’s a look.

Disney Let Go Rising Actress on Hit Series

News broke this week that Disney has terminated one of their rising stars on a hit series. Gina Carano, the star of “The Mandalorian”, was fired for making comments that triggered the left-leaning crowd. The move by Disney and Lucafilm has since backfired.

Carano got support from Texas Senator Ted Cruz. Sen. Cruz said in a tweet how the actress rose to stardom in a popular series, yet she was canceled because of her views.

This move by Disney shows that actors and actresses with right leaning or religious views don’t have a place in the big tent, the entertainment industry. We are even seeing Disney with its true colors as they have supported gay marriage let alone Planned Parenthood.

Abby Johnson and Catholic University of America

Recently, the pro-life group of Cardinals for Life at Catholic University of America in Washington, DC were pressured to cancel Abby Johnson, former Planned Parenthood director turned pro-life advocate. However, she was picked up by the school’s republican group, which sparked some controversy.

The original reason for canceling Abby was for remarks she made about her adopted son last summer ahead of the 2020 Republican National Committee. This sparked the debate among many liberal pro-lifers, particularly the ones who have been a part of the number of Black Lives Matter protests nationwide that same summer.

Even in a post leading to the cancellation, Abby knew deep down she was going to speak at the Catholic University of America. She event thanked the college republicans for the invitation to speak. To see her presentation, visit here.

Whether we agree with the person or not, we can’t just simply cancel that person because of remarks that person made. We live in a society that preaches tolerance for some, not for all. One, pro-lifers must have some non partisan groups speak or contribute to the debate in advancing a culture of life. Two, when we want to cancel out, it opens the door for another to welcome a particular viewpoint while declining to offer another point of view.

The idea of a university is to be universal without becoming too radical. Sadly, the higher education scene has been climatically heated to the point that one side is put to the side just to accommodate one’s feelings. Cancel culture is killing critical thinking. Critical thinking has been seen a an inconvenience in education. It needs to be brought back.

In the words of Rep. Madison Cawthorne, “Ideas sharpen the mind”.

DO NOT GIVE IN TO CANCEL CULTURE. CANCEL POLITICAL CORRECTNESS.

Lent 2021 Preview: Planned Parenthood (Center City Campaign)

For seven straight years, the 40 Days for Life campaign has been present outside of the largest Planned Parenthood in the heart of Philadelphia.

Their numbers have dropped because of our presence for a while until the lockdown last March, which saw an increase in abortions plus ceasing the campaign early.

The hypocrisy is businesses in PA had to suffer while Planned Parenthood, thanks to their friend Gov. Tom Wolf, profit off a questionable pandemic. At the same time, churches were only to be open for prayer but no masses or services. We got a preview of communism through the Wolf Administration, particularly from his closest ally, Dr. Richard “Rachel” Levine.

This time we will have a full campaign during Lent as it will run from Ash Wednesday (February 17th) to March 27th. The hours are: Monday through Saturday 8AM to 4PM.

To sign up for this campaign, visit here.
