The following comes from a long-time friend and pro-life warrior, with information on the rescue held in Philly a few weeks ago. I hope everyone takes the time to read her commentary in full to better understand Red Rose Rescue and why she feels it is such an important part of the pro-life movement.
I just read the transcript of the phone call Todd Beamer made to a GTE phone operator on the United 93 flight, before he and 3 men made a plan to take the plane down, to keep the plane from completing the terrorists’ mission to hit Washington DC.
As I read this, I thought of the way the system of our nation is destroying itself from within by supporting and defending abortion.
I thought of how many people involved in peaceful rescue at the abortion sites have been willing to lay down their lives to stop abortion for that day, alongside having a day in court to speak for the abandoned unborn they were seeking to rescue.
And I think about the ones who have been jailed for doing these peaceful rescues and serve as a further witness within the system that supports and protects abortion. Being in jail is a critical part of the witness, which aligns our small suffering (of jail) with the ultimate suffering of the helpless children.
I am thinking of the mentality I have in doing these rescues: it is to be a stick in the spokes of the wheels of abortion, to place myself between the abortionist’s knife and the children.
To me, the quick action on United 93 to protect innocent people from the suicidal mission of the terrorists to crash that plane into a large building, is the same as our action in rescue.
In rescues we purposely put ourselves, our bodies, in a place that is preventing ‘the usual business’ of abortion from happening.
This usually involves sitting in a waiting room, or in some cases a hallway, where staff and police must notice us and must stop to negotiate (often yelling, at first) with us to ask us to leave. In our peaceful refusal to leave, we are buying time for the children’s mothers, who ultimately must decide for life and against abortion, in order to save the lives of these children, to hear offers of help and think about what problems can be untied to make the choice for life instead of death-by-abortion of their helpless dependent child.
To me, the terrorists of 9/11 who took over those planes are in fact exactly the same as the abortion-bound and the abortionists who seek to end the lives of the children. The terrorists were completely determined to see their mission thru to destroy as many lives as possible that day. The abortionists are completely determined as well, to dismember as many helpless, innocent children each day they are open for “business.” The mothers, even if under duress and in many cases compelled by others, are determined until shown a way out of this dreaded abortion decision, are also determined to complete this horrible deed.
And it is exactly the possibility of hope, changed direction, of a possible aborting of the mission of an abortion that drives the rescuer! We want willfully, intentionally to get in the way of the terrorists known as abortionists, to prevent murder!
This is what Todd Beamer and the others on United 93 realized they had to do, and do with great intent and speed, to prevent that airplane from being used by the terrorists to kill more people. And both prolife rescuers and Todd Beamer already accept that they are giving up their own freedom, their own lives to save others.
2 weeks ago, on August 27th, 2021, I placed myself in the way at a Planned Parenthood in Philadelphia, the city which gave birth to a nation, a few blocks away from where they signed the Declaration of Independence. I peacefully entered the waiting room, and sat in a chair with roses, to offer to patients who were contemplating aborting their child. I was able to interact with a few of these mothers. One took a rose and thanked me!
Eventually, the police walked in and saw me, sitting peacefully in a chair, with my arms full of roses. The officer said, “You don’t belong in here! You need to go outside with the rest of the protestors!” I said: “Officer, if you can get an affidavit from the employees and the abortionists that they will leave the building and not come back to kill helpless children, I will leave. Otherwise, I will stay here.”
About 10 minutes later, another officer asked me to leave, and I repeated my offer to leave peacefully, after they brought me proof that no employee of Planned Parenthood would come back inside to kill babies. When this officer proceeded to touch my shoulder, I knelt on the floor. Then he grabbed my arms, placing them behind my back, as the roses I was holding fell to the floor in front of me.
I was handcuffed. The 1st officer came over and the 2 police officers, picked me up off the floor and dragged me out of the building.
I did my best to stay inside this place of death, where for over 35 years at least 90,000 preborn children have been mercilessly dismembered. I was a witness to the abandoned unborn, and for those killed that week, and scheduled to die that day, I was there to be with them in their place of death, when even their own mothers had abandoned them.
As it turned out, the disruption to the usual abortion business of the day at that Planned Parenthood caused them to cancel all their appointments, and we were a witness to the police informing each young woman that approached the gate they could not enter — after I was removed from the waiting room —- myself and others witnessed that Planned Parenthood was closed for the day!
To me, this was being Todd Beamer for as long as I could, in a place where terrorists were not going to stop their usual business of killing. I want to see this courage in every American so as to shut down every place of terror that continues to grind apart our tiniest fellow Americans in an even more brutal way than the horrific attacks of 9/11 2001.
One day of abortion was wrong! Forty-nine years of abortion in the USA is too long. It has actually now been over 100 years worldwide since Soviet Russia “legalized” abortion in 1920, and that is far too long. This needs to end!
