The following is from Maria Gallagher, Legislative Director of the Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation.
I will never forget the time when I was a radio reporter and I decided to do a feature on Valentine’s Day.
I arranged to visit a second-grade class at a local elementary school to record their impressions of the holiday. As I took out my microphone and tape recorder, the children gathered around me at lightning speed. They were eager to give their reflections of Valentine’s Day. In that moment, I just felt surrounded by love.
I remember my own excitement as a grade school student anticipating Valentine’s Day. My mother believed in celebrating to the hilt, so the day was filled with cards, gifts, cake, hors’ d’oeuvres, and even flaming cherries jubilee. Again, growing up, I always felt great love on Valentine’s Day.
It seems to me that the national public policy which permits abortion on demand erases a great deal of love from our lives. That is because it eliminates the children who carefully craft those handmade Valentine’s and whisper “I love you” at times of great grace.
Just think if we were to make a Valentine for every child lost to abortion, and for each woman who grieves a child that abortion has taken. The cards could stretch to the heavens and back.
I believe that every woman who was coerced into abortion knows what she is missing—an irreplaceable child with a boundless capacity to love. How sad that a woman could be driven to surrender the one who would love her the most.
Recently, the Vatican has approved a pro-life miracle attributed to Archbishop Fulton J Sheen.
He wrote a very powerful novena that is to be prayed for a successful nine months straight
Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, I love you very much. I beg you to spare the life of the unborn baby [baby’s name] that I have spiritually adopted who is in danger of abortion. Amen.
Spiritually adopting a baby in danger of abortion has been a way to remind our family that 2,899 babies die every day by surgical abortion—a number that doesn’t even reflect chemical abortions—and most never receive a name.
The following is from the Pennsylvania Family Institute. They are looking for as many people as possible to attend this rally. Please gather in the Media Room in the Capitol basement at 10:00 am.
On Monday, October 21st, Senator Doug Mastriano (R-Adams) and State Representative Stephanie Borowicz (R-Clinton) will help lead other elected officials and pro-life Pennsylvanians in introducing Senate Bill 912 and House Bill 1977 – the Heartbeat Bill. The introductory press conference is open to the public and we encourage you to join us at the announcement starting at 10 am at the PA State Capitol.
What is the Heartbeat Bill? This legislation would improve our current state law by protecting unborn children from abortion after a heartbeat is detected. Under current law, abortion is permitted up through 24 weeks into pregnancy (six months in pregnancy) – an outdated determination of life based on the subjective nature of viability. Pennsylvania’s Heartbeat Bill would protect thousands of babies every year throughout our state.
Take Action: When you hear a heartbeat, you hear life. Please contact your State Senator and State Representative in support of the Heartbeat Bill – click here to email them your support.
If you would like to attend the Heartbeat Bill press conference / rally on Monday, October 21, please contact Dan Bartkowiak at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We will have plenty more to share on Monday and in the weeks to come so stay tuned.
