Paxton Smith Turns Blind-Eye on Abortion, Pro-Life Activists Respond

If this blog can do a highlight of the week, then the valedictorian speech during high school graduation would make the list for all the wrong reasons.

A speech given by Paxton Smith that went viral has gotten many people talking. She argues where Texas has gone wrong after signing into law a heartbeat bill that recently passed. However, her logic and reasoning fell short. She used the platform as an opportunity to promote abortion and birth control. She admitted that she is afraid of bringing a child into the world if she faced an unplanned pregnancy and contraception fails (which does) due to inconvenience. The purpose of a high school valedictorian speech is to reflect on the four years of high school or college. It is not a time for propaganda. Even the board of her now alma mater were not notified about the change in her speech.

Some pro-lifers respond to her speech.

Dr. Monique Ruberu took it to her personal Facebook page to address where she is wrong:

Dear Paxton, You are a strong girl, an intelligent girl, but sadly you have bought the lie sold to so many beautiful women all over the world. You are correct that contraceptives do fail… the only way to 100% avoid pregnancy is to abstain from sex… this will help you to know that the man in your life is not using you for his sexual pleasure… it will leave you strong, confident, with the knowledge that the person you are dating is with you because of your beautiful mind, heart, and soul. If you one day marry this man and you need to abstain because of illness or a complication in pregnancy – you will have 100% confidence that he is not going to cheat on you because he is not with you just to satisfy his sexual desires… your relationship will be based on so much more, awesome conversation, dreams, trust… love and respect… If one day God forbid you are raped… the people I know who were conceived in rape are the most beautiful, loving, intelligent, life-changing people I know… to say they should have been aborted because of the sins of their father is heartless. The women who choose to give birth and keep their child or allow their child to be adopted typically do so much better than those who choose abortion… they know that although they were harmed, they are not perpetuating that harm upon another innocent person. Life doesn’t end with pregnancy… even if it is unplanned… every life is precious. You can still accomplish every dream, every goal… these moms need support and someone to tell them they are capable… instead you just told your entire class at lake highlands hs that the women are weak and if pregnant they are incapable of accomplishing great things… how many moms go to school, work, provide for their kids…. you negated all of that strength, that resilience, the very essence of being a strong woman… but it’s not your fault because you were fed a lie… so now is your chance… open your eyes… see how awesome life is… see how awesome women are … see that every life is a gift and every person is precious… see that you can choose to stop having sex … and you would have much less to fear…

To My Daughters, Please do not look up to girls like Paxton Smith. She may have the ability to string together emotionally driven words, but if they are not founded in truth it will lead to destruction. I know this so well. When mommy was a senior in high school I made a huge mistake that I will regret for the rest of my life. I believed the very lies that Ms. Smith relayed in her valedictorian speech. When I found out I was pregnant I felt that my dreams, my goals, and my aspirations were being stripped from me. Knowing what I know now, they were simply feelings. Feelings change but truth does not. As an immature teenage girl, I believed the lie that ending the life of my child would restore my dreams, my goals, and my aspirations. After consuming poisonous pills to end the life of my baby, your sibling, that is not what happened. Nothing was restored. It was all a lie. The regret settled in, but I quickly pushed it down to survive. There is nothing natural about taking the life of your own child. I do not care how empowering someone like Ms. Paxton may make it sound. The reality is I had no right to take the life of my innocent child for my own selfish gain. The last thing I would ever want for my beautiful girls is to believe that lie. What makes you a powerful woman is unapologetically being who God created you to be. It’s standing in truth even when the world is trying to convince you to live in lies. I pray Ms. Paxton will someday take her gift of intelligence and use it to protect life, not promote death.

Supporting women and their pregnancy by showering them with help, love, and mercy is pro-woman. That will in essence defeat abortion in our society.

Court Stops New Tennessee Heartbeat Abortion Ban From Taking Effect

In remarks just before signing the bill into law, Governor Lee defended the measure by saying that “life is precious and everything that is precious is worth protecting.”

Michael Gryboski of Christian Post filed a report about a U.S. District Judge issuing a restraining order to halt a Tennessee pro-life law.

A judge blocked a new Tennessee law that would ban abortion in most circumstances once a fetal heartbeat is detected, which is often around six weeks into a pregnancy.

Governor Bill Lee signed House Bill 2263, also known as Senate Bill 2196, into law on Monday, which included an exemption for life-threatening medical emergency.

Judge William Campbell of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee issued a temporary restraining order soon after that will last until July 27, pending a possible future order.

Campbell argued that the pro-choice plaintiffs, who had filed legal action against the legislation before it had become law, had shown that “they will suffer immediate and irreparable injury, harm, loss, or damage if injunctive relief is not granted pending a preliminary injunction hearing.”

“The Act will immediately impact patients seeking abortions and imposes criminal sanctions on abortion providers. The time-sensitive nature of the procedure also weighs in favor of injunctive relief pending a preliminary injunction hearing,” concluded the judge.

The American Civil Liberties Union, who filed suit against the law along with the Center for Reproductive Rights, Planned Parenthood Federation of America, and others, celebrated the temporary restraining order.

“This is a critical win for people in Tennessee who will not lose access to their constitutional right to abortion,” said Anjali Dalal, senior staff attorney at the ACLU Reproductive Freedom Project, in a statement.

“But we cannot lose sight of the big picture: that it took a court order to stop these politicians from pursuing a ruthless anti-abortion agenda in the middle of a pandemic, passing a ban that would disproportionately harm Black and brown people.”

In remarks just before signing the bill into law, Governor Lee defended the measure by saying that “life is precious and everything that is precious is worth protecting.”

Abortion Lobby’s Lies Exposed

“You see, it’s been demonstrated that as many as 78% of abortion-minded women who see an ultrasound image of their unborn baby choose life.”

National Pro Life Alliance logo

Martin Fox of the National Pro-Life Alliance explains the power of an ultrasound to save lives of an unborn babies.

You and I both know the abortion lobby will do whatever it takes to convince women that their unborn baby is “just tissue.”

But ultrasounds get in the way of that narrative.

That’s why the so-called “National Abortion Rights Action League” (NARAL) is targeting laws that give women the right to view an ultrasound image of their unborn baby.

In fact, NARAL has named overturning ultrasound laws one of their top legislative priorities.

That’s because the abortion lobby knows that when a woman sees her unborn baby, she will see right through their lies.

And sonograms show an unborn baby’s tiny heart beating from as early as six weeks.

You see, it’s been demonstrated that as many as 78% of abortion-minded women who see an ultrasound image of their unborn baby choose life.

Ultrasound laws expose the truth about abortion: that abortion ends an innocent human life.

But the abortion lobby is targeting this life-saving legislation to keep women in the dark about the truth of their grisly trade.

That’s why your National Pro-Life Alliance is fighting to pass strong ultrasound laws on both the state and federal level to expose the abortionists’ fraudulent lies.

And together, you and I will continue to fight for protections to save unborn lives.

For Life,

Martin Fox

A special Valentine’s Day prayer for women whose hearts are broken over abortion

The following is from Maria Gallagher, Legislative Director of the Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation.

I will never forget the time when I was a radio reporter and I decided to do a feature on Valentine’s Day.

I arranged to visit a second-grade class at a local elementary school to record their impressions of the holiday. As I took out my microphone and tape recorder, the children gathered around me at lightning speed. They were eager to give their reflections of Valentine’s Day. In that moment, I just felt surrounded by love.

I remember my own excitement as a grade school student anticipating Valentine’s Day. My mother believed in celebrating to the hilt, so the day was filled with cards, gifts, cake, hors’ d’oeuvres, and even flaming cherries jubilee. Again, growing up, I always felt great love on Valentine’s Day.

It seems to me that the national public policy which permits abortion on demand erases a great deal of love from our lives. That is because it eliminates the children who carefully craft those handmade Valentine’s and whisper “I love you” at times of great grace.

Just think if we were to make a Valentine for every child lost to abortion, and for each woman who grieves a child that abortion has taken. The cards could stretch to the heavens and back.

I believe that every woman who was coerced into abortion knows what she is missing—an irreplaceable child with a boundless capacity to love. How sad that a woman could be driven to surrender the one who would love her the most.

Pro-Life Novena by Archbishop Fulton Sheen

Recently, the Vatican has approved a pro-life miracle attributed to Archbishop Fulton J Sheen.

He wrote a very powerful novena that is to be prayed for a successful nine months straight

Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, I love you very much. I beg you to spare the life of the unborn baby [baby’s name] that I have spiritually adopted who is in danger of abortion. Amen.

Spiritually adopting a baby in danger of abortion has been a way to remind our family that 2,899 babies die every day by surgical abortion—a number that doesn’t even reflect chemical abortions—and most never receive a name.

Exciting New Pro-life Legislation Kicks off Monday, Oct 21 in Pennsylvania

Pennsylvania Heartbeat Bill Being Introduced on Monday

The following is from the Pennsylvania Family Institute.  They are looking for as many people as possible to attend this rally.  Please gather in the Media Room in the Capitol basement at 10:00 am.

On Monday, October 21st, Senator Doug Mastriano (R-Adams) and State Representative Stephanie Borowicz (R-Clinton) will help lead other elected officials and pro-life Pennsylvanians in introducing Senate Bill 912 and House Bill 1977 – the Heartbeat Bill. The introductory press conference is open to the public and we encourage you to join us at the announcement starting at 10 am at the PA State Capitol.

What is the Heartbeat Bill? This legislation would improve our current state law by protecting unborn children from abortion after a heartbeat is detected. Under current law, abortion is permitted up through 24 weeks into pregnancy (six months in pregnancy) – an outdated determination of life based on the subjective nature of viability. Pennsylvania’s Heartbeat Bill would protect thousands of babies every year throughout our state.

Take Action: When you hear a heartbeat, you hear life. Please contact your State Senator and State Representative in support of the Heartbeat Bill – click here to email them your support.

If you would like to attend the Heartbeat Bill press conference / rally on Monday, October 21, please contact Dan Bartkowiak at dbart@pafamily.org.

We will have plenty more to share on Monday and in the weeks to come so stay tuned.
