New Florida Law Protects Babies From Infanticide, But Planned Parenthood Opposed It

Demonstrating their loyalty to the billion-dollar abortion industry, Democrats blocked the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act at least 80 times last year

baby200

The following is a Life News article by Miciah Bilger.  It’s concerns a Florida law that protects babies who survive abortion.

Florida Lawmakers added new protections for babies who survive abortions this week as growing evidence indicates that viable babies are born alive in botched abortions every year in the U.S.

Tampa Bay News 10 reports Florida already has a law in place that requires abortionists and support staff to provide medical care to a baby who is born alive from a botched abortion and transport the baby to a hospital.

But the new law, signed by Gov. Ron DeSantis on Tuesday, increases the penalties for failing to provide that basic care.

Florida Senate Bill 404 makes it a third-degree felony for a doctor or medical worker to neglect to provide care to a baby who survives an abortion. Previously, the penalty was a misdemeanor.

“This law sends a clear message that here in Florida, we will do everything we can to prevent the abomination of infanticide in our state,” Senate President Bill Galvano said after the governor signed the law. “When a child miraculously survives this brutal medical procedure, that child’s life must be preserved and treated with great respect and care. The penalty for refusing to provide medical care to an infant struggling for life should be significant.”

Galvano thanked state Sen. Kelli Stargel, R-Lakeland, the lead sponsor, for her courageous leadership on the pro-life law.

Earlier this year, a Fox News investigation found that 40 known abortion survivors were documented in just three states between 2016 and 2018, including 19 in Florida. It is not clear from the report if any of the babies survived.

Abortions are legal for any reason up to 24 weeks of pregnancy in Florida. Premature babies now are surviving at 21 weeks of pregnancy, and, in 2018, the state reported 213 abortions at or after 21 weeks of pregnancy.

Despite the evidence, the abortion chain Planned Parenthood fought aggressively against the legislation. Stephanie Fraim, who runs the Planned Parenthood of Southwest and Central Florida affiliate, claimed the law threatens “a reinterpretation of our constitutional right to privacy and the right to a safe and legal abortion in Florida.”

But the Florida Conference of Catholic Bishops and other pro-life leaders praised lawmakers for supporting the life-saving legislation, according to the Catholic News Service.

“As Catholics, we condemn abortion as a grave injustice that denies the fundamental human right to life. However, as long as abortion is legal, we support measures such as parental consent that will reduce the grave harm it inflicts,” they said in a statement.

Stargel’s law also requires a girl under 18 to have at least one parent’s permission before going through with an abortion. The bill includes exceptions for medical emergencies and allows a judge to grant permission instead of a parent.

Meanwhile, growing evidence indicates that babies are born alive in botched abortions every year in the U.S. Earlier this week, Minnesota, one of only a few states that keeps data on abortion survivors, reported three babies survived abortions in 2019.

If Black Lives Matter, do Black Babies Lives Matter?

Debbie Aldrich Show

QUOTE: “No way! I can’t quit. My People are dying. Ending abortion is a matter of survival now. Our future depends on meetng the needs of women and children.” — Walter B. Hoye II

Below is a YouTube video from the Debbie Aldrich Show where she speaks with Walter Hoye founder and CEO of Issues for Life Foundation about the number of black babies being killed daily in our country through abortion.

Dear Bishops: Be Lions for Christ

The following is from an email blast sent out by Judie Brown of the American Life League. Please see information on how you can encourage your bishop to be bold and take a stand against public servants who dismiss Catholic teachings while in public office.

The ongoing hypocrisy of pro-abortion Catholics like Joe Biden continues to boggle the Catholic mind. It is hard for any of us to understand how any thinking human being who claims to be Catholic could be such a voracious supporter of aborting little babies! Yet that is exactly what Biden and his ilk are up to on a daily basis.

On the other hand, we have the American Catholic bishops who are all atwitter with the coronavirus, shutting down churches and encouraging Catholics to use at-home resources including online Mass. Baltimore’s Archbishop Lori told the media: “We do not feel as though we have been forced into doing this by the government. We feel like we’re doing the right thing.”

Yet, when it comes to pro-abortion Catholics like Biden and Pelosi spreading a virus of disdain for preborn babies—a “virus” that surgically kills more than 2,000 individual human beings daily—the bishops only resort to occasional criticism. They have never taken steps as a united body to deny Biden the sacrament of Holy Eucharist.

In fact, the entire cast of characters known as the USCCB has never acted to deny any pro-abortion Catholic public figure the body of Christ!

Somehow it seems easier for bishops to shut the doors of the Church to faithful Catholics than to defend Christ from sacrilege.

We know that Christ’s presence in the Eucharist is real. The Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches that “the Eucharist is ‘the source and summit of the Christian life.’” It further explains:

The mode of Christ’s presence under the Eucharistic species is unique. It raises the Eucharist above all the sacraments as “the perfection of the spiritual life and the end to which all the sacraments tend.” In the most blessed sacrament of the Eucharist “the body and blood, together with the soul and divinity, of our Lord Jesus Christ and, therefore, the whole Christ is truly, really, and substantially contained.” “This presence is called ‘real’ – by which is not intended to exclude the other types of presence as if they could not be ‘real’ too, but because it is presence in the fullest sense: that is to say, it is a substantial presence by which Christ, God and man, makes himself wholly and entirely present.”

Knowing the truth of these words and knowing the devotion that such a teaching should command, we are speechless to explain why the bishops are silent. It would seem to us that, just like the young boy Saint Tarsicius, our bishops would prefer death over permitting any sacrilege to befall Christ in the Eucharist.

But first, faith must exist. And it must be a faith in the real presence of Christ.

Fr. John Hardon, S.J., a holy priest who brought many to the Church and back to the Church, taught this about the body and blood of Christ in the Eucharist: “Only those who really believe that God became man can even begin to believe in His Real Presence now on earth in the Blessed Sacrament of the Altar. Thus, faith in the Incarnation is the foundation for our faith in the Real Presence. As a result, growth in our faith in the Incarnation is the condition for growth in our faith in the Real Presence.”

Joe Biden has said that “no one is expendable. No life is worth losing,” yet he condones the act of aborting a baby.

The bishops have said, in joint statements and with a single voice, that “abortion ends the life of a child and offends God.” Yet they are silent when it comes to defending Christ from sacrilege.

This dichotomy is a tragedy. We call upon the bishops, and we ask you to do likewise. Let them know that, as ordained men of God, they are obliged to defend the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist in the same way they defend the real presence of the child prior to birth.

Let us remind them, one by one, that “only those who really believe that God became man can even begin to believe in His Real Presence now on earth in the Blessed Sacrament of the Altar.”

The Catholic bishops are obliged to teach, not tremble, especially in times like these.

Dear Bishops, be lions for Christ.

The Hypocrisy of Pro-Abortion Governors

It should come as no surprise that many governors who claim to be Catholic are choosing their self-interest over the faith of others.

Here is  a rundown of every so-called Catholic governor so far

Andrew Cuomo- New York

Cuomo does not need a long introduction, but God knows that he is in the state of mortal sin as he continues to murder life from womb to tomb in the Empire State. The apple didn’t fall far from the tree as his father, Mario, labeled the idea that “I’m Catholic, but” which was backfired by Cardinal John O’Connor. Who dares to play God when it comes to human life?

Gina Raimondo- Rhode Island

She sent a letter to Barth Bracy, the executive director of Rhode Island Right to Life, about keeping abortion facilities open while churches are closed during the pandemic.

Gretchen Whitmer- Michigan

Whitmer is a feminist. A tween from 2018 recently surfaced that shows her wearing a pink hat that reads, “Planned Parenthood makes America Great”. Oh, really? Then why have 61 million Americans been murdered by the largest abortion chain? She even barred purchasing American flags while allowing abortions to happen in her state. Read more here

Tom Wolf- Pennsylvania

Wolf volunteered for Planned Parenthood in his early days. He even is their best friend. Observe

tom wolf PP Escort

What is appalling is, like many of his esteemed colleagues that have turned states progressive, he deemed abortion as “essential service” while many businesses in the commonwealth are suffering. Even with a red house and senate in the Keystone State, Wolf has vetoed pro-life bills, but they will be overridden.

Ralph Northam

Dr. Ralph Northam has been the subject of many news headlines. What is so disconcerting about him is the fact that a former pediatrician who dares to play the inconsistent card when it comes to human life. One example is his viewpoint on infanticide.

Bottom line: elections have consequences and those that have refused to defend the most precious must be voted out.

Abortion Clinics Remain Open During COVID-19, While I Was Arrested for Praying Outside of One

The following is a blogpost on Alliance Defending Freedom from David Benham who is sharing about his arrest outside of an abortion facility in North Carolina.

I still remember the night.

I was 15 years old when Norma McCorvey came walking through our front door with her then-partner, Connie Gonzales. The fact that we were hosting guests for dinner wasn’t unique. We were preacher’s kids, so our door was basically always revolving.

But this night was different. On this night, God was doing something amazing—something only He could do.

Legacy of Life

The woman that my family affectionately knew as “Ms. Norma” is more widely known by her pseudonym, “Jane Roe.” Norma McCorvey was the “Roe” of the infamous U.S. Supreme Court case Roe vs. Wade, which legalized abortion in the United States. Through the faithful witness of my dad, Norma met Jesus. Several weeks later Norma was baptized, and Jason and I helped move her stuff out of Connie’s house.

Norma wasn’t the exception. We regularly witnessed the Gospel pervade the darkness of those affected by abortion. My dad committed himself to standing for the unborn as a full-time ministry, and this commitment was a family affair.

Our dad’s vigor for life was contagious. From a young age, he instilled in us that defending the defenseless wasn’t just a duty, it was an honor. He told us that if our theology wasn’t our biography, then our theology was worthless—because Jesus cared for the “least of these,” so must we.

Leverage for Life

After retiring from professional baseball, Jason and I moved to Charlotte and immediately noticed two things:

  1. There were three thriving abortion clinics.
  2. There was a desperate need for a network of life-affirming organizations.

As our business continued to grow, the Lord made it clear He wanted us to leverage our influence and resources to mobilize Christians to stand up for life. We didn’t know exactly what this would look like, but we knew that we had been called for such a time as this.

In 2010, we joined hands with business owners and local churches and started a non-profit called Cities4Life. We were driven by the vision that true compassion always leads to action. We didn’t want to just stand against abortion, we wanted to embody the life-giving actions of the Good Samaritan.

Practically, this looks like reaching down into a place of pain, tending to any wounds, taking them to an inn, and providing intentional follow up. Vulnerable women visiting abortion clinics need the warmth and love of Jesus regardless of whether they are walking in or out of that place.

Since 2010, we’ve had the privilege of serving over 5,000 women. But in ten years, we never encountered anything like we experienced earlier this month.

Locked up for Life

On Saturday, April 4, 2020, I was standing on a public sidewalk outside an abortion clinic here in Charlotte when I was unlawfully arrested.

Earlier that morning, I had received a call saying that the police were threatening to arrest our sidewalk counselors from Cities4Life. The police claimed that we were in violation of the “shelter-in-place” ordinance put in place in response to COVID-19.

I knew immediately that the authorities had no grounds for an arrest. Because we’re a federally recognized 501(c)3 that provides life-affirming social services to women in crisis, our services are classified “essential” under the ordinance. So we had a legal and constitutional right to be there. And on top of that, as an “essential” service, we could have been there with more than ten people. Out of concern for our sidewalk counselors and our community, however, we stayed under ten in number, maintaining social distancing the entire time.

I respectfully explained all of this to the officer, but to no avail.

As they cuffed me, I couldn’t help but recall the countless hours that I watched my dad standing on similar sidewalks, proclaiming life in the midst of death. It was a surreal experience, to say the least. Only two hours earlier, I had been sitting on my couch, Bible and coffee in hand, getting ready for a day with the family. Now those same hands were pressed behind my back going numb from the tight grasp of the cuffs.

I am grieved that our local government is employing the coronavirus as an illegitimate excuse to silence the voices of pro-life people. This is nothing less than viewpoint discrimination. Abortion clinics are flooded with people receiving so-called “essential” services, while peaceful counselors are arrested for offering truly essential services.

That’s why, with the help of Alliance Defending Freedom, we filed a lawsuit against the City of Charlotte. If abortion clinics can stay open during the pandemic, Christians should be allowed to pray outside—particularly those abiding by health and safety guidelines.

Today, we continue to partner with numerous ministries and local churches to help bring mothers to a place of hope and healing. Opposition will not dissuade us in this fight. In fact, we are invigorated all the more to be a voice for the voiceless. We pray you’ll join us!

PRO-LIFE NECK GAITERS FOR SALE

Evangelium Vitae- 25 years later

For most of his papacy, St. John Paul the Great emphasize the necessity for every Catholic to protect the sanctity of human life.

For him, his work that was promulgated on this day 25 years ago rings true today.

The point of the document is to reinforce church teaching on the sanctity of human life. Not only does he reinforce the teaching on abortion and contraception, but he also takes it a step further by discussing the death penalty stating that it is “unholy and unlawful”.

Another form of a murder he discusses is euthanasia “grave violation of the law of God” because it is a form of deliberate killing.

Overall, the encyclical was a pro-life manifesto. It defines what it means to be for all stages of life and how we can pick and choose which form of life we should defend.

Pray Hard… From Home

This is an email sent from Dr. Monique Ruberu.

Dear friends,

Gov. wolf just put an order out that we must all stay at home unless we are exercising, purchasing food or going to the doctor.
for this reason, I will ask all of you to pray from home. I don’t know how they will enforce it… but I don’t want any of you to get into trouble.
I truly believe that God will hear our prayers… and that He will let those going in and out of the abortion centers FEEL our prayer.
At the moment we have 1-3 people signed up for most hours until Saturday…

I am going to list the times again and let you know what times are not covered as well…

the more intense prayer we have at each hour, the stronger our petitions, the more impactful this effort will be…

This time will not last forever.. let’s continue to pray that these women will find our online help available… let’s make ourselves present in the online places that abortion-minded women hang out… if any of you have dealt with extreme illness in pregnancy but chose life – go to the Hyperemesis groups and help women considering abortion there… those of you who know and love someone with Down’s syndrome search for the groups discussing downs or prenatal genetic diagnosis…  post on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter… put the Pro-life union hotline number out there… (484) 451-8104 let it be known that you are someone who can guide people to those who can help… check out people who like abortion and pro-choice groups… you never know who will be looking for support for such a choice that you can reach out to…

meanwhile- at the same time… let’s pray and pray HARD!!!!

I’m listing any hour that has less than 3 people praying: hour (number of people signed up)

Wed: 8(2),9(1),10(2),12(2),1(2),4(1),5(0),6(1),7(0)

Good and Bad News

The following is from an email blast from Dr. Monique Ruberu regarding a decision made by 40 Days Headquarters.

I have good news and some difficult news…

the difficult news first… the national leaders of 40 days for life have canceled all vigils for the safety of all vigil participants.
the good news… our most recent save from Saturday has a team of at least 5 people who have pledged to walk with her on this journey. All of these people will contribute in some small way to her and her child’s well being!!

the good news… Planned Parenthood has closed for Monday….!!!!! One day that lives will not be taken at that site…

if anyone wants to continue individual prayer with appropriate spacing only 1-2 people staying 6 feet apart through sidewalk servants let us know… we will monitor the centers and we will let you know when they are open.

Here is a follow-up email sent this morning. You are encouraged to participate in the Sidewalk Servants.

When coronavirus shut down our churches… our homes became reinstituted as the mini churches…

Thanks be to God we have the technology… and this will allow our prayer vigil to continue!!!!

on FaceTime and MSN messager we can even have prayer partners that join together and uphold each other in prayer!!!!

So in the name of Jesus!!! Let’s continue to cover these wicked places with prayer!!!

Please sign up for a 1-hour prayer slot to cover these places… now that you don’t have to be physically present I’m hoping that all of you who have been hesitant to come out can jump in… we can even do a 24-hour vigil!!!

if people do choose to venture to the front lines how awesome for them to know that they have someone praying for them while they are there.
so today is your day to sign up!
we will start all of this tomorrow (Tuesday)

Here are the hours we need to cover if anyone wants to continue through the night let me know and I’ll extend the times

Feel free to cover an hour or more if you desire daily. Feel free to pray with others during your hour on social media, feel free to look up pictures of these places so you can really focus your prayer as if you are standing there..

When you respond tell me if you want to know who else is praying at your hour and if you would like to meet with them via FaceTime or messenger – give your phone number so I can connect you guys…

During this time if anyone is dealing with loneliness or a need for food or other things please let me know and within our community, we will figure this out… we are God’s people and He will end abortion and sustain us through this all!!!!
