Legacy of Life Virtual Tour – February 18th

The weather is dreary for many of us and we are still living under Covid-19 restrictions so we need to create our own bright spots in our days.  One bright spot I recommend is joining the virtual tour of Legacy of Life on Thursday, February 18th at 7 PM EST on Zoom.  You will learn first hand about the work Legacy of Life does everyday to support moms and their children.  Legacy of Life offers life-changing alternatives to women who are considering abortion…alternatives that Planned Parenthood does not offer.  My first tour there made realize that when I stand outside an abortion center, I can be confident in the alternative resources I offer women.  I know they will be taken care of if they only make the call.  Below are the details for joining the tour.  I guarantee you will be uplifted after taking part in this tour and may even decide to volunteer or donate to this worthwhile mission.

You are invited to join the Legacy of Life Foundation!
You will hear from our advocates about how love & mercy give a woman hope even after they have been abandoned by their family, friends, and even the father of their baby just because they are pregnant.   Advocates and Ultrasound techs will share how through love and mercy truth transforms a woman’s heart from abortion-minded to saying YES to life.  These stories will melt your heart and reaffirm that, yes, hope abounds through love & mercy!

Legacy of Life Virtual Fundraiser

This is an invitation to take part in the Legacy of Life’s Home for the Holidays virtual fundraiser.  The fundraiser started Thursday evening and continues through Sunday, 11/15 at midnight.  You can donate online and thanks to generous supporters, gifts will be doubled up to $40,000.  Access the virtual video through the website or through Legacy of Life’s Facebook page.

If you are not familiar with Legacy of Life, this non-profit organization invests in educating, inspiring and supporting women in unplanned pregnancies to find the strength to choose Life.  It provides Hope when pregnant women and their families are in despair and may turn to abortion.  This organization provides assistance to two pregnancy centers in the Philadelphia area, one in Center City Philadelphia and one in suburban Bucks County, PA.

Please view their website and learn additional details about the work that they do.  Watch the videos on the site – you will see pure joy in the face of the moms and their children who have been assisted through the Legacy of Life. You can also learn about volunteer opportunities and donations. I have personally taken a tour of one of their facilities and can attest to the warm and caring environment they have created for women who are unsure about which way to turn.

With the Covid 19 virus curtailing our social schedules, and with the holidays upon us and our Black Friday shopping on hold, perhaps you have a little wiggle room in your budget to offer a donation to a worthy cause. Help make a happy holiday season for a woman, her child and her family!

Legacy of Life – New and Improved Baby Bottle Drive!

lolAdapting.  We all do it, sometimes without even thinking about it.  Stuck in traffic, we use a shortcut someone showed us 10 years ago.  Power goes out, find a flashlight or light all the candles we received as Christmas presents.  And now, the pandemic really has spotlighted all our adapting skills. Sports fans not allowed in stadiums during the pandemic?  Fill the seats with purchased photo cardboard cutouts and donate the proceeds to charity.  We just naturally want to fix something that currently isn’t working.

The Legacy of Life Foundation (Bucks County, PA) has not let any grass grow under its feet when it comes to adapting.

Legacy’s infamous Baby Bottle Drive has now undergone a makeover to allow for any Covid safety concerns of pastors, parishioners or organization leaders. Rather than distributing baby bottles to be taken home and filled up with donations, then collected at a later date, there is now the option of distributing envelopes with a baby bottle printed on the front that can then be returned the following week either in a bassinet or donation box in the back of the church.  You also have the option of mailing the envelope back directly to the Foundation or contributing online.

urgentPlease consider contacting Legacy of Life to initiate a Bottle Drive at your parish, church or organization.  The funding received from these drives is critical in providing supportive services to those moms who reach out to the women’s centers rather than abort their children. When the pandemic first reared its ugly head and everything was shut down, the Legacy of Life women’s centers still had a mission to support the women and children in their program.  Life did not stop but a good portion of the funding did.

To make arrangements for the new and improved Baby Bottle Drive, please contact Legacy of Life at 215-788-4051.

Adapting.  Sometimes it brings out the best in all of us!

Was Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life?

The following is from Brittany Christiansen, a Field Director from the Susan B. Anthony List in Philadelphia. She shares a stark truth of many of the 19th Century suffragists and how they were “pro-life”.

Early 18th and 19th century suffragist writings regularly referred to abortion as “ante-natal murder”, “child murder”, “ante-natal infanticide”, and “infanticide”.  These early feminists regarded abortion as abhorrent, as violence against women and their children, and attributed its practice to the denial of their rights and a dearth of nonviolent choices for women.  While early feminists were indeed concerned about abortion’s physical and psychological dangers to women, they also opposed abortion itself.

Susan B Anthony wrote in her diary in 1876 about her sister-in-law recovering from an abortion (tampering with herself):

  • “Things did not go well” “Sister Annie in bed — been sick for a month — tampering with herself — & was freed this A.M. what ignorance & lack of self-government the world is filled with.”
  • Three days later, “Sister Annie better — but looks very slim — she will rue the day she forces nature”

Susan B Anthony delivered a speech in 1875:

  • “When the office of maternity shall be held sacred … then, and not till then, will this earth see a new order of men and women, prone to good rather evil.”

Susan B. Anthony responded to a male leading publicist who asked why she with such a generous heart had never been a wife or mother:

  • “I thank you kind sir, for what I take to be the highest compliment, but sweeter even than to have had the joy of caring for children of my own has it been to me to help bring about a better state of things for mothers generally, so that their unborn little ones could not be willed away from them”

Susan B Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton founded a Newspaper in NYC called The Revolution with the motto “Men their rights and nothing more; women their rights and nothing less.”

  • Published only editorials against abortion during its run from 1868 to 1872
  • Refused to publish ads for abortifacients
    • In the late 1800s, pills and pessaries were sold by unscrupulous abortion practitioners through euphemistic ads, labeling these products as for “the remedy of illnesses peculiar to women”, “restoration of female regularity”, and “correction of menstrual suppression”.
    • Many newspapers and publications ran ads for such products, and such businesses proliferated even though abortion was technically illegal at the time. These ads were lucrative for many newspapers of the time; however, Anthony and her colleagues steadfastly refused to accept them for The Revolution’s entire run.
  • Susan B Anthony is credited by some scholars with writing one of the most powerful anti-abortion articles ever to appear in The Revolution; however, the article was published with only her initial, leading some to argue that it she was not in fact the author. The article, entitled “Child Murder” included the following:
    • “Guilty? Yes, no matter what the motive, love of ease, or a desire to save from suffering the unborn innocent, the woman is awfully guilty who commits the deed. It will burden her conscience in life, it will burden her soul in death; but oh! thrice guilty is he who, for selfish gratification, heedless of her prayers, indifferent to her fate, drove her to the desperation which impelled her to the crime.”

Susan B Anthony repeatedly gave her “Social Purity” speech in the 1870’s lumping abortion in with many other social evils:

  • “The prosecutions on our courts for breach of promise, divorce, adultery, bigamy, seduction, rape; the newspaper reports every day of every year of scandals and outrages, of wife murders and paramour shooting, of abortions and infanticides, are perpetual reminders of men’s incapacity to cope successfully with this monster evil of society.”
  • “The true relation of the sexes never can be attained until woman is free and equal with man. Neither in the making nor executing of the laws regulating these relations has woman ever had the slightest voice. The statutes for marriage and divorce, for adultery, breach of promise, seduction, rape, bigamy, abortion, infanticide—all were made by men. They, alone, decide who are guilty of violating these laws and what shall be their punishment, with judge, jury and advocate all men, with no woman’s voice heard in our courts”

Susan B Anthony was arrested for voting straight Republican in the 1872 Presidential Election

  • November 1st 1872 Susan B Anthony registered to vote in a barbershop in Rochester’s Eighth Ward.  The male registrars didn’t want to do it, but Susan B Anthony threatened to sue them personally unless they relented.
    • 14 other women also registered to vote.
  • President Grant and his Republican Party, the party that ended slavery, was far more receptive to the idea of women’s rights than the Democratic Party. And so, as she informed Elizabeth Cady Stanton in a letter, Susan B Anthony enthusiastically voted for Grant and a straight party-line ticket.
  • A Democratic Party poll watcher named Sylvester Lewis didn’t want to accept the vote, but the two Republicans registrars did; on a 2-1 vote, it went in the hopper.
  • She was then indicted, tried, and convicted for voting illegally and sentenced to pay a fine of $100 and court costs.  She declined to pay the fine.
    • The historic New Yorker described her two-day trial in June 1873 as “the greatest judicial outrage history has ever recorded,”

On the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution (known as the Susan B. Anthony Amendment) recognizing women’s right to vote, President Donald Trump posthumously pardoned suffragist pioneer Susan B. Anthony for illegally voting in 1872. SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser, a member of the Women’s Suffrage Centennial Commission, was present for the historic moment.

  • “Later today, I will be signing a full and complete pardon for Susan B. Anthony,” “She was never pardoned. What took so long?” “She was guilty for voting” – President Trump
  • “Walking out of the White House on cloud nine because Susan B Anthony has just been pardoned for voting illegally. At the time, she said ‘I will pay not one penny for this unjust fine.’ ” “Susan B. Anthony fought to expand the promise of human rights and dignity to all people,” “She and her compatriots provide us with the model of how to advocate for the voiceless and disenfranchised in our own time. It is her courageous example that inspired the formation of SBA List and continues to inspire our work today. We are deeply moved and grateful to President Trump for honoring the legacy of this great American hero and we pledge never to tire in carrying on her unfinished work.” – Marjorie Dannenfelser

August To-Do List

Hard to believe that it is August, and we’re more than half way through the summer.

The 8th month of the year can serve as a time to get in much needed family vacation before school is back in session. Sadly, the pandemic has put everyone’s plans on hold. Some are still unsure due to the unprecedented times.

The good news is Voices for Life has a to-do list throughout the month that can help you channel your Covid-19 frustrations in helping to advance the pro-life message. This list is applicable for your daily pro-life conviction.

  1. See Trump Card

It should come as no surprise that Dinesh D’Sousa, an immigrant of India, is not done defending the core principles of America. For the last eight years, he has been on the New York Times bestseller’s list, been falsely convicted for fraud, and has produced documentaries that have been game changers. His latest project, “Trump Card” is slated to be released on Friday, August 7th. Due to the temporary closing of movie theaters, you can view the documentary on-demand.

He played a pivotal role in exposing Hillary Clinton’s past which helped Donald Trump become the 45th President of the United States with “Hillary’s America”.

In addition, his most recent book United States of Socialism, is out now. To make your purchase, visit here.

2. Holy Hour/Mass for Life

Many states have masses back in session (with restrictions). Some of the faithful should be encouraged to host a Holy Hour for an end to abortion. St. Teresa of Calcutta once believed that if every Catholic made a weekly Holy Hour, we would see an end to abortion. So what are you waiting for? Even if you can’t bring one to you church, make one on your accordance.

3. Take part in vigils in your community

Connect with your local pro-life coalition and find out about vigil locations and times. Pray with your family, college, or even church group. Create a sign that advertises free help with contact information.

4. Host a pro-life committee meeting in your church

Gather people in your parish or church and discuss ways you can help get the pro-life message to your community all around with another pivotal election approaching.

5. Donate to pro-life charity

Give anything you have to advance many pro-life groups making a difference. Some groups include: Generation Life, The Culture Project, St. Raymond Nonnatus Foundation, Guiding Star, and Susan B Anthony List to name a few.

6. Work for Susan B Anthony List

The Susan B Anthony List is gearing up to help reach out to voters as the 2020 elections are coming very soon. They are hiring in many battleground states. To learn more, visit here.

7. Purchase Stork: Sowing Season

An indie author recently came out with an amazing book that promotes a pro-life message. To order your copy, visit here. It will make an excellent read in your backyard with a cold drink or while you’re catching rays at the beach.

8. Sign up for 40 Days for Life

The 40 Days for Life campaign begins on Wednesday, September 23rd and ends the weekend before the General Election. The spring campaign was interrupted with the pandemic. Now, with many states putting this phenomenon behind, it is time to go all in to save lives, pray for the workers, help moms choose life, and make a difference in your community.

9. Sidewalk Servants

Even though we’re a long way from the next 40 Days for Life campaign, there are babies being murdered every day. Your presence for at least an hour two during the week will make an impact on the abortion industry. Learn more about sidewalk servants here. Consider starting one in your community.

Is Fatherhood Essential? Reflecting on Father’s Day

It goes without showing that our culture has been going down a slow but declining drain.

We have seen an increase in crime, fatherless homes, sexual promiscuity, secularism, and even incarcerations. Why? It’s all because of the lack of father figures in the lives of children.

In 2003, Jennifer Schwartz from Penn State University, did a study on what is the cause of so many incarceration among children. She discovered that there has been a missing compartment in the household, a father figure.

As it turned out, Schwartz discovered what the complete problem was for these many young teens are imprisoned. They had no father in the household. Read more here.

Fathers Neglect

It appears that it can be applied today. Pope Francis once talked about a very dangerous plague in our culture known as the “throwaway culture”. This throwaway culture can be applied to the abortion industry.

Fathers to be are taught that they do not have to take responsibility for their pre-marital affairs with another girl. This is the most dangerous thing to say to a father. Even fathers regret their lost children in the hyperactive culture of death. Women’s rights achieved this victory when they intoxicated masculinity just to tear down men with the venom of feminism.

A man’s job in this culture is to stand against the waves of modernism. The father’s first and foremost job is to protect his family. Without his protection, the family is vulnerable to the tyranny of the world.

Man Up

We are living in hard times due to weak men. I see many wimps walk their girlfriends into the abortion facility every time I am on the sidewalk. It infuriates me, yet I have to offer it up to God for him to awaken his senses. However, it must make us stronger in order to create good times.

Men, throughout history, have risen to the occasion. Whether it were to do their duty to fight, provide, and even support. Now it would be the time for brave God-fearing men to step up to the plate to end the culture of death.

Men, it’s time to make and take a stand. The culture of modernism, secularism, and even relativism can end when you become more involved with your faith by leading your children and family to Christ. It will be a challenge, yes. However, when you place God first, you will move mountains and leap over the toughest hurdles.

There is a solution. Men, it’s time to step out on the sidewalk and pray. Visit Sidewalks Servants and Sign Up.

MAN UP!
