The Gianna Center of Philadelphia will be celebrating their second anniversary at Suburban Community Hospital this month. Below is information from their newsletter detailing how they began. Congratulations to the Gianna Center and to all those involved in the founding of this center.
Few people know that the Gianna Center’s humble beginnings were at the internal medicine practice of Dr. Max Mercado in Northeast Philadelphia. Dr. Mercado, graciously invited Dr. Delia Larrauri and nurse practitioner Barbara Rose to begin their practice in his office located in the Medical Office Building of Jeanes Hospital.
In April of 2019, the Gianna Center moved to its present location: the Suburban Community Hospital in East Norriton. There was an open house celebration and blessing by Bishop McIntyre on its first day. Fr. Joseph Lo Jacono, IVE, the Gianna Center chaplain, placed markings in chalk above our door which says in Latin, Saint Gianna pray for us!
Suburban Hospital is ideal for a number of reasons. First, Dr. Larrauri is able to do minor surgery and procedures there and interact with the medical staff and students in the residency program. This helps to bring more visibility to NaProTechnology and the Creighton Model. Second, the hospital is close to the Pennsylvania Turnpike and Route 476 – major routes traversing the suburban area. A third reason that the Suburban Hospital is ideal is the fact that it is in close proximity to a large Hispanic community. Since Dr. Larrauri speaks Spanish fluently, the women from this community benefit greatly. Last, and certainly not least, the Gianna Center is not far from Planned Parenthood in Norristown, and is able to offer a life-affirming approach to women’s health and fertility thus becoming a medical resource for many of the Philadelphia area pregnancy centers.
The Gianna Center staff and volunteers pray daily for your safety and for an end to this pandemic. Remember, St. Gianna’s feast day is April 28. St. Gianna Beretta Molla, ora pro nobis!
Below is information on the Gianna Center of Philadelphia from Barbara Rose, NP. This also includes information on a Golf Outing to take place on May 3rd (see flyer). Please read below as Barbara reports on the Gianna Center’s progress these past two years.
The Gianna Center of Philadelphia celebrates two years at Suburban Community Hospital in East Norriton this April, all because of the generous support of faithful Catholics.
Named after St. Gianna Beretta Molla, the Gianna Center of Philadelphia features two unique women’s health services: the Creighton Model FertilityCare™ System and NaProTECHNOLOGY™. This authentic pro-life women’s healthcare allows us to provide women with a more natural, restorative, scientifically-based approach to improving health and respecting fertility.
Our highly skilled team is delighted to offer women’s health care which includes preventive and specialized gynecology and early pregnancy support. This is health care at its finest as it respects the sanctity of life, the dignity of women, and the sacramental integrity of marriage.
The program’s medical director, Dr. Delia Larrauri, speaks Spanish fluently and has been a tremendous gift to the under-served Hispanic community of Norristown.
To continue this life-affirming and transformative mission, we rely on your help. Please consider joining us for the first annual golf benefit at the LuLu Country Club in North Hills, PA, on Monday, May 3rd, 2021. Sponsorship is a great way to show everyone that you support authentic pro-life health care for women, couples and families in our area.

The information below comes from the Gianna Center of Philadelphia. Due to COVID, this year’s program will be virtual. More information on this event will be posted in the coming weeks.
Readers who fondly remember the mother-daughter programs hosted by the Friends of FertilityCare Philadelphia will be pleased to know that we will be continuing the tradition albeit virtually this year.
In spring of 2021, the Gianna Center will be partnering with the Archdiocese of St. Louis Office of NFP to bring the Wonder of Eve to the Philadelphia area for the very first time.
The Wonder of Eve is a fresh and engaging presentation, helping young women understand how naturally amazing their bodies are and the impact their choices can have on their future health and fertility. Designed for high school girls and their mothers, this program is ideal as an online program as we await the safe return of in-person events.
The program’s topics include the marvelous design and function of the female body and reproductive system, a brief introduction to tracking cycles and ways for young women to take care of themselves now that will benefit them in the future.
The 60-minute presentation is aligned with both Christian and Catholic teaching and values. The speakers are health care professionals and there is an opportunity for Q&A. For an article in the St Louis Review click here. Look for more details in our next newsletter!
The Gianna Center of Philadelphia is an official charity with Charity Mobile – a phone provider that sends 5% of your plan’s monthly cost to the charity of your choice. Most providers support questionable causes and agendas, but Charity Mobile allows you to support the Gianna Center with every bill. Best of all, they offer the benefits of the major providers, so you won’t have to compromise on services or values! Sign up here!
Below is a testimony by Theresa Strenge, a Creighton Model FertilityCare instructor in Bucks County, from the newsletter of Gianna Center of Philadelphia. In this current atmosphere of gloom and doom, it’s nice to hear a beautiful, uplifting story.
Miracles occur with God’s gift of NaProTechnology! Women, many for the first time, are able to have their medical problems thoroughly investigated, evaluated and properly treated. Couples carrying the cross of infertility are offered hope without having to turn to the infertility industry which is costly in body, mind and soul, besides financially. Women who have suffered the pain of miscarriage are grateful to carry a pregnancy to term even after 4 and 5 miscarriages in a row. In working with engaged couples, NaPro is able to identify if biomarkers (signs or symptoms appearing on the woman’s chart) exist and frequently avoid miscarriage when they are trying to achieve a pregnancy after marriage.
I’m one of the many mothers who after an appointment at the Gianna Center of Philadelphia with her teenage daughter with cycle difficulties thought, “what would we do if Gianna wasn’t here?” My dear daughter readily agreed. Gianna also serves women who are tempted to abort their children and are greatly relieved to find a physician who delivers medically sound and compassionate care. NaProTechnology is an integral part of overturning the culture of death. Every woman in the Philadelphia area deserves this knowledge about her amazing body and that help is available when she needs it with this exciting new women’s health science!.
While every child is a unique and unrepeatable gift from our good and gracious God, we affectionately call the children conceived with the help of our NaProTechnology Consultants “NaPro babies.”
Vincent Paul, 13 and Maximilian Gerard 1 month are first and second generation NaPro babies. Thank you to Barbara Rose, Dr. Jean Golden-Tevald and Dr. Delia Larrauri for doing God’s work!
In your generosity, please spread the good news of Gianna Philadelphia’s presence in our community and the need for its financial support. Thank you to all those who have made this vital center a reality!

Love what we do? So do we! Only through your prayers and generosity do we continue with this apostolate. Please help us make the most of our $10,000 challenge grant. Send your tax deductible gift by clicking the box below.
The Gianna Center of Philadelphia remains open during the COVID-19 pandemic. Please see information below on services they are offering.
Because of you, the Gianna Center of Philadelphia continues to operate during this difficult time. While “walk-in” service has been suspended, patients have been served by a HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform. In some cases, women have been seen in the office for urgent matters, following all regulatory guidelines. Rest assured, there has been no lapse in providing life-affirming care to the women of our community.
Some may wonder, what exactly does the Gianna Center of Philadelphia do during a pandemic? Here are just a few of the services that keep our staff busy!
Live video visits for patients addressing new issues and conducting follow-up care
Orders for laboratory and other diagnositic testing
Confirmation of pregnancy
Progesterone monitoring during pregnancy when indicated
Referrals to medical specialists or surgeons
Collaborating with pro-life health care providers and pregnancy centers
Instruction in the Creighton Model FertilityCare System
Assisting patients in obtaining the official Creighton App
As always, our staff has been assisting women and couples struggling with the frustrating diagnosis of “unexplained” infertility. An estimated 30% of women who have difficulty conceiving are given this diagnosis and are sent off to centers that perform intrauterine insemination or in-vitro fertilization (IVF). Since many of these centers are closed during the COVID-19 pandemic, couples now have more time to consider a restorative reproductive approach and are seeking the Creighton Model FertilityCare System and NaProTECHNOLOGY. We are happy to report that currently, there are 10 couples pregnant with the help of NaProTECHNOLOGY who are being treated by our practice – even remotely with the telehealth platform, Hale Health.

Please see the message from Gianna of Albany’s Physician, Dr. Jan Patterson below, and if you are able, please help them out with their work by sending an email using the link provided.
A Note from Gianna Albany’s Physician, Dr. Jan Patterson:
“It is a great blessing and privilege to serve women and families in the Albany region at Gianna of Albany. Our mission is to advance the culture of life by providing women and families with quality, ethical reproductive healthcare that truly strengthens their families, body and soul.
It is so encouraging to hear our patients express their deep gratitude for healthcare that is not only natural and restorative but fully in line with their deeply held religious beliefs.
The stories of these women and families — from over 600 medical visits last year alone — are truly inspiring. We are so blessed to be a part of their journey.
Please help us as we work on the front lines of our mission; we could not advance it without your generous contributions. Thank you for your continued prayers and support!
Dr. Patterson was so much more than a doctor for us through multiple miscarriages and our first full pregnancy. She was a support, a guide, and a friend from the lows to the highs. I was never just a patient. She always looked to my full humanity before suggesting any new paths forward. My husband, daughter, and I are unbelievably blessed to have had Dr. Patterson on this journey with us. – Beth, Patient of Gianna Albany

Below is a message from the Gianna Center of Philadelphiaregarding changes to their schedule during this crisis. A phone number is provided in this post for urgent messages.
Changes to Protect Women During the Corona Outbreak
The Gianna Center of Philadelphia located at the Suburban Community Hospital in East Norriton is making changes in how it operates during this unprecedented time.
Until further notice, the center will not be available for walk-in visits. Instead, all visits are scheduled after screening by the triage nurse. The Gianna Center is asking all patients to call the office if they think they need a sick visit, are experiencing a pregnancy complication or are newly pregnant and have no ob/GYN available. The phone number for urgent messages is 844-204-0005.
The staff has been busy contacting patients to reschedule routine visits. At the moment, they are planning to offer routine visits again after 04/06/2020, however, this may change depending on the ongoing situation.
To address the needs of their patients, the Gianna team is utilizing tele-med services. The aim is to have video calls available throughout the current shut down. Patients who call the office will be sent an invitation to join the secured line for a video conferencing session in order to receive the necessary medical instruction and prescriptions. Creighton Model instruction is also offered through the same secure platform. The Gianna staff continues working with pregnancy centers, assisting in the counseling of abortion-vulnerable women and providing services in the first trimester. All can use the same number: 844-204-0005.
Dr. Anne Nolte, co-founder and executive director of the National Gianna Centers for Women’s Health and Fertility shared an article written by concerned physicians that one can access here.
As she explains “it is the best one that I have read. It clearly explains the situation we are in and the critical steps we should all be taking at this time. Please read it and share it with friends, family, and associates.
The Gianna Center staff and volunteers pray daily for your safety and for an end to this crisis. St. Gianna Beretta Molla pray for us!
Below is the newsletter from the Gianna Center of Philadelphia along with pictures of the many events they’ve had this year. This center is an important part of our pro-life work and just as with all our pregnancy help centers, they too need our support, both financially and spiritually. Please read about their year and view their many pictures, and if you can, please make a donation to help them keep their doors open. Information is posted below for donations.
Our Opening Day in the New Office
Over 50 friends, patients and supporters joined Bishop John McIntyre and Montgomery County Commissioner Joe Gale for an office blessing and open house on April 26. Anne Nolte, Executive Director of the National Gianna Center in New York City also came down for the day. The Knights of Columbus Holy Family Council #3327 presented a check for $5,000 they had raised for the Gianna Center at an event in Bridgeport in March.
Exam rooms in the new office have been dedicated to John and Harriet Stanton, and to the Knights of Columbus in recognition of their extraordinary support. Earlier this spring, regional councils of the Knights generously donated the cost of an ultrasound machine for the Gianna Center through a matching grant program from the Supreme Council’s Culture of Life Fund. The Stantons are long-time bastions of the Philadelphia pro-life community whose commitment has extended to the establishment of this center for women’s reproductive health.
Our Outreach to Student Health Care Professionals
In September, Dr. Larrauri traveled to Misericordia University, at the request of Dr. Chris Carr, Assistant Professor of Religious Studies. She was asked to speak about health risks to a woman’s fertility from contraceptives. On Oct 7, Dr. Larrauri and Barbara Rose were invited to speak to Temple Medical Students. Later that same month, they spoke at Rowan School of Osteopathic Medicine in Stratford, NJ.
Our Outreach to Women with Low Incomes
Since its opening, the Gianna Center has been providing services to low income women in the Greater Philadelphia area. Twice this year, we hosted “Free Clinic Days.” These are times that the office is open to anyone without insurance for general gynecologic examinations and in-office screenings. As the Gianna Center is located near Norristown, there has been outreach to the Hispanic community though St.Patrick’s church ministry and the Missionary Sisters of Charity. The generous gift of the ultrasound from the Knignts of Columbus has proven to be an invaluable tool for diagnosing patients and has assisted Dr. Larrauri in providing care to women who might otherwise had more serious outcomes in their first trimester of pregnancy.
Our NaPro Babies!
NaPro Babies is our affectionate term for children whose mothers benefited from the protocols of NaProTechnology during their pregnancies. Many thanks to the moms who graciously shared pictures of their precious ones for all of us to enjoy! *

Our First Gala at the Union League
Thanks to all of you who came out to support the Gianna Center of Philadelphia on Oct 22 for the first Annual Gala. Your enthusiasm for the Culture of Life that is growing in our city is contagious, and is its own encouragement for soldiers in the battle like the Knights of Columbus, the Missionary Sisters of Charity, the Love and Fidelity Network, and FertilityCare Practitioner Liz Parrish, RN. Your generosity helps us to realize the promise of their work by enabling us to provide authentically Catholic, pro-life health care to the women and families of our community.
On the Front Lines!
The Gianna Center of Philadelphia is transforming the culture by changing lives. By supporting chastity; educating couples to understand their own fertility; empowering women with pro-life family planning options; restoring the fertility of women struggling to conceive; providing information and support to women facing crisis pregnancies; and training the next generation of pro-life healthcare providers, our medical team transforms pro-life ideals into real life choices.
We are honored to be called to this work, but we cannot do it alone.
To celebrate the Gianna Center of Philadelphia’s first year in operation, a generous benefactor has promised to match any amount up to $25,000 that we receive between now and December 27, 2019.
If you share our values, now is the moment to join us in this critical mission! Whether you can give $50, $500, or $5,000, your gift to the Gianna Center of Philadelphia will make a difference, and if you act now, our matching donor will double it.
