August is upon us. We are also entering the second full month since the Dobbs decision.
We are seeing many back to school commercials, summer deals, and for the whole nation the political ads as we are less than a 100 days away from the general election.
Here is a list for the month of August
- Collect items for children in need of school supplies
- Take part in prayer vigils in your community
- Make a Holy Hour for Life
- Volunteer to make blessing bags with your group
- Recruit new members on campus, your parish, or even at school
- Make plans to attend your state March for Life
- Host a pro-life movie screening and raise funds for pro-life PRC or for a mom in need
- Make meals for the homeless
- Give a talk to youth and or young adults about the pro-life message
As the first entire month of the Post-Roe Era concluded, Pro-lifers in the Greater Philadelphia area attended Mass at the Basilica of Sts. Peter and Paul Cathedral.
Archbishop Nelson Perez was the main celebrant. In his homily, he alluded to the fact that life “is the most sacred gift from God.” He reminded those gathered that with the lord’s help lives will be saved.
Following Mass, Dr. Monique Ruberu encouraged everyone that the work to save lives is not over. “While Roe was reversed, pro-lifers are tempted to sit back and think that it’s over. It’s not. It continues in Philly as more than 10,000 lives are murdered on an annual basis.”
Big families, religious, seasoned and callow pro-lifers, and even regular attendees were all in attendance for Mass. It was a day to remember for all.
If you live in the Philadelphia area, you are encouraged to step up, pray for one hour, offer your talents to advance and cultivate a culture of life, and most importantly offer love and mercy on the sidewalks.
It’s hard to believe that it has been one month since Dobbs v Jackson case was decided. Since the decision, nearly half the country have or will restrict abortion thanks to pro-life laws passed by state legislature.
Unfortunately, for many states controlled by pro-abortion leaders, the hard work and perseverance must be doubled. At the same time, those of us who live in states that have banned abortion should continue to be on the alert to ensure its state defends life at its earliest stage. No doubt this will be at stake in many senate, congressional, and gubernational races.
Take the first step today in doubling your efforts to defend life and end abortion. The issue is not settled in the state capitals, city halls, or even the legislative or executive branches. Instead, this can be settled in our homes, communities, and even on the public square when we change the hearts and minds of those who are directly or indirectly involved with the Culture of Death.
Never give up, persevere. The abortion lobby’s house of cards will soon fall.
We just witnessed the fall of Goliath thanks to Dobbs v Jackson. Now, we must chase after the Philistines and have them surrender.
The faithful of Philadelphia are welcome to attend a Mass in Thanksgiving for the reversal of Roe v Wade on Sunday, July 31st.
This will take place during the 11 AM Mass at the Basilica of Sts. Peter and Paul Cathedral.
All pro-life groups are encouraged to attend. There is free parking on the grounds of the Basilica.
