The Belief that Life has Infinite, Irreplaceable Value – as Plain as a Red Sweater on a Newborn Baby’s Back

santababy

While reading the article below, I thought about my family and friends who have blessed my life.  Moms, dads, children, grandchildren, siblings, some who were unplanned, are knit together in love.  Even in tough times, a new precious baby was welcomed.  Each life is of inestimable worth to our Heavenly Father and each has a divine purpose.  How empty our lives would be if those unplanned, unwanted babies were prevented from becoming a part of our family and circle of friends.

By Maria V. Gallagher, Legislative Director, Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation

Editor’s note, This appears on page four of the December digital edition of National Right to Life News. Please be sure to share the latest edition with your pro-life family and friends.

It has become a lovely tradition in hospitals around the nation: dressing newborn babies in distinctive garb, based upon a holiday or some other celebration.
Witness babies dressed like Mister Rogers, the acclaimed children’s television host…newborns dressed as characters from the film “Frozen”…and babies outfitted in Christmas stockings.

These beautiful photos go viral on social media, adorning Facebook feeds, Instagram stories, and Twitter pages. While some may dismiss this phenomenon as just a cute custom, it is actually much more than that. It is a recognition of the amazing beauty of the newly born…an honoring of their personhood…and a celebration of their oh-so-young lives.

Yet, it is alarming that babies not much younger than these are routinely and brutally denied the right to life.

Abortion represents the ending of what should be infinite possibilities. It is an action born of hopelessness, despair, and even greed by abortion center profiteers. It is the opposite of the neighborliness of a Mister Rogers…the indomitable spirit of a “Frozen” character…and the hope re-born each Christmas.

Future generations may indeed wonder at this deeply disturbing dichotomy—the festive observance of life on the one hand, the cold-hearted ending of that defenseless life on the other. While nurses and doctors provide round-the-clock care to premature infants in one health care facility, abortionists down the street can destroy preborn lives as part of one morning’s “work.”

I have to believe that the schizophrenic nature of our society when it comes to young human life can and will be corrected. A U.S. Supreme Court decision overruling the dreadful travesty of Roe v. Wade…laws protecting innocent preborn life at the state level…and vast numbers of pregnancy resource centers pitching in to help can have the combined effect of reversing our cultural descent into nihilism.

Oxford expertly defines “nihilism” as the belief that life is meaningless. The better angels of our natures know differently. It’s as plain as a red sweater on a newborn baby’s back, the belief that life has infinite, irreplaceable value. And that no amount of pontificating by the pro-abortion movement will change that incontrovertible fact.

Generation Life Held Long Day of Talks and Baby Shower at Philadelphia’s Oldest All Girls Catholic High School

Generation Life

Last Friday, the GenLife team was all hands on deck to give a full day of Chastity presentations to local girl’s high school, John W. Hallahan. This was made possible by some teachers at the high school, such as longtime friend Anthony Polselli, Maria Sawick, and Moira Stanton.

For years the team has been returning to Hallahan, where they get a beautiful glimpse of how the ProLife movement is growing among young people. We were greeted by a senior student who told us, “I’ve heard Gen Life every year, but each year it’s different, so I really enjoy it when you guys are here.”

Moreover, they were delighted to be there the day of their ProLife Club’s baby shower for the unborn, an initiative the students take to support mothers and children in crisis, just in time for Mother’s Day!

This school year has included many firsts for Generation Life, but the long-standing relationships they have with schools like Hallahan gives them a glimpse of how powerful and vital the Pro-Life and Chastity messages are. Whenever they share the truth about what, in the words of our predecessor and role model Molly Kelly, is the healthiest and holiest way to live out our sexuality, students truly respond.

While half of our team presented to the senior ladies, School Coordinator Joe Dembik stole the opportunity to head to the Rally. There he was joined by GenLife President Fr. Joe Zaleski and students from Monsignor Bonner & Archbishop Prendergast High School, and all those standing in solidarity to witness to life.

It was inspiring to see Locust street full, corner to corner with people affirming life and love,” said Joe. “It was even more impressive to see so many high school students taking time out of their day to come out and be a peaceful presence there.

The mission of Generation Life is to plant the seeds of the ProLife and Chastity messages in the next generation. By sharing the truth of our dignity and sexuality with young men and women, we can end abortion at its root cause. By inviting the next generation to respect and protect not only their life and dignity but those of the unborn, we work within the ProLife movement to make abortion unthinkable.

Quotes on Mother’s Day

On behalf of the bloggers of Voices for Life, we want to wish all of the mothers a Happy Mother’s Day.

I have compiled a list of quotes about motherhood from many staunch pro-lifers. Enjoy.

Mother Mary

Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord; let it be to me according to Your word.

From Mary, we learn to surrender to God’s will in all things. From Mary, we learn to trust even when all hope seems gone. From Mary, we learn to love Christ her son and the son of God. – JPII

The loveliest masterpiece of the heart of God is the love of a Mother. -St. Therese of Lisieux

In the evening when you go to sleep, hold your beads, doze off reciting them, do like those babies who go to sleep mumbling, “Mamma! Mamma!” – St. Bernadette

Motherhood is more than a stage— it’s a lifelong calling from God. With it, He gives us hearts that love deeply, hands that serve tirelessly, and vision to see His blossoming image in the precious ones entrusted to our care. Unknown

“All that I am or ever hope to be, I owe to my angel Mother.” – Abraham Lincoln

“There is no love like a mother’s – she who carries the child that God knits in the womb, she who nourishes and guides, she who teaches and inspires, she who gives of her heart and soul and self for the good and the happiness of her children and her family.” Ronald Reagan

“When liberals say ‘family’, they mean ‘Big Brother in Washington.’ When we say ‘family,’ we mean ‘honor thy father and mother.'” Ronald Reagan

“By abortion, the mother does not learn to love but kills her own child to solve her problems” St. Teresa of Calcutta

“Anything that destroys God’s gift of motherhood destroys His most precious gift to women—the ability to love as a woman.” St. Teresa of Calcutta

There are countless quotes on motherhood, but I know these are the core of what it means to choose life.

Increasing calls for Brian Sims to ‘immediately resign’ for harassing pro-lifers

The following is a Fox News article written by Caleb Parke. His article is republished with his permission.

There have been growing calls for Brian Sims, a Democratic state representative in Pennsylvania who came under fire after videos surfaced of him harassing an elderly pro-life woman, to resign.

The calls grew louder after a video emerged of him offering online viewers $100 to dox teenage girls praying peacefully outside a Philadelphia Planned Parenthood abortion clinic.

An online petition started by LifeNews.com has garnered over 9,500 signatures as of Wednesday morning.

Sims, in a video posted online after the controversy, said he “can do better,” stopping short of an apology. Planned Parenthood said it did “not condone…Sims’ approach” but called him a “champion” on pro-choice issues.

KRISTAN HAWKINS: PRO-CHOICE INSTIGATORS CROSSING THE LINE FROM HARASSMENT TO DEHUMANIZATION

Ashley Garecht, the mother of two of the teens targeted by Sims, ages 13 and 15, told Fox News they didn’t know he was an elected official when he started verbally attacking them for their skin color, religion, and political ideology.

“Just the fact that he’s an adult male interacting aggressively with teenage girls, that alone is inappropriate,” Garecht said. “Him being a politician doesn’t just supersede him being an adult man aggressively approaching teenage women.”

She added: “I would just love for people to understand the core of the pro-life movement is a prayerful movement, we want abortion to end. We want women to have a better option than abortion in their lives. This is not about aggression. I would never engage in that.”

TUCKER CARLSON: REP. BRIAN SIMS IS A FROTHING EXTREMIST — AND A TOTALLY MAINSTREAM FIGURE IN TODAY’S DEMOCRATIC PARTY

Garecht and her husband, Joe, started a GoFundMe “Show Brian the Power of the Pro-Life Movement” to help make something good come out of this, with the goal of raising $100,000 for the Pro-Life Union of Greater Philadelphia. As of Wednesday morning, they had raised about $28,000.

“This movement matters,” Garecht said. “The lives of the unborn matter. The lives of the mothers’ matter. The lives of clinic workers matter. We pray for them, and we want them to know they’re loved and to let them know they have better options than just to terminate the life of an unborn child.”

She told “Tucker Carlson Tonight” that she and her daughters prayed for Sims and will continue to pray for him.

Former Planned Parenthood clinic worker-turned-pro-life advocate, Abby Johnson, challenged Sims to face her Friday in front of Planned Parenthood of Southeastern Pennsylvania. The founder of And Then There Were None called him “absolutely unfit to serve.”

Johnson, along with several other pro-life leaders and organizations, are hosting an event Friday outside the Philadelphia abortion clinic, “to show that peaceful prayer volunteers cannot be silenced or bullied out of standing up for what they believe.”

‘UNFIT TO SERVE’: ABBY JOHNSON SLAMS BRIAN SIMS FOR HARASSING PRO-LIFERS

Last week, Sims went on an eight-minute video rant, verbally harassing an elderly woman protesting outside a Planned Parenthood abortion clinic.

The state representative recorded the woman outside the same clinic in Philadelphia, which is in his district, telling her to pray at home, calling her an “old white lady” and lecturing her about her Christian beliefs on the Periscope app.

This isn’t the first time Sims has done this stunt. Two years ago, he recorded two people outside the Planned Parenthood, telling them “shame on you” and encouraging people to donate to Planned Parenthood.

Rep. Brian Sims Doxxed for Teenage Girls Information On Holy Thursday; Father Responds

Rep. Brian Sims is making a name for himself in an unpleasant way. Last week, he harassed an elderly woman who was by herself quietly praying the rosary outside of Planned Parenthood in Center City. See article here: Open Season on Philly Pro-Lifers. as Representative Brian Sims Leads the Charge

Another video has surfaced going back to Holy Thursday of Rep. Sims outside of the same abortion facility. This time doxxing his followers for information on a pair of teenage girls from one local high school praying in front of the facility. Sims asked his followers to release the names and addresses of the teenagers in exchange for $100.

In response to Rep. Sims raising funds for Planned Parenthood, the father of one of the girls that was doxxed by the so-called “representative” takes action. He sets up a go fund me page to raise money for the Pro-Life Union of Greater Philadelphia. As of now, 30k has been raised with a goal of $100,000.

These attacks are proof that Christians are among the wolves of the world in the form of atheism, communism, radical Islam, and big government bullies.

RISE UP, CHRISTIAN SOLDIERS!!!!!

Rally Against Bullying

All are asked to step out onto the sidewalk for a peaceful demonstration this Friday. Kristan Hawkins, Abby Johnson, and Matt Walsh are slated to speak at this event. Read more here: Stand Against Bullying

Purchase A Timely Book with Focus On Catholic Teachings

Within the pages of Ordinary Brother’s new book, Get Married and Save the World, readers will find a doctrinal and practical guide to the main elements of the Christian marriage union. It is also a call to Christians to live fully in the Holy Spirit and reject the flesh, in our families and our homes.

Get Married and Save the World will appeal to readers who know the Church has turned away from God’s Word and is soaking in carnal goals. Its readers should take away a broad and deep understanding of marriage and be confident in their own marriages to bless the world.

Marriage is a broad subject, and there are many topics within the book that can interest your readers. These include the relationship between husband and wife, the role of the homemaker, the lifelong nature of the covenant, the home liturgy, Christian education, and the importance of blessing the world with children, and raising young souls up in the faith.

While the author is not a Catholic, the book contains some teachings strongly aligned with Catholic pro-life work, including that contraception, is wicked, and that it is strongly linked to abortion. I make mention of the early Church teaching, of Humane Vitae, and list several Catholic ministries he follows in the appendices. It is not uniquely on the subject of pro-life ministry but certainly is pro-life in that it supports the family, which protects countless children from harm, and teaches clearly and at length against contraception and abortion.

Ordinary Brother earned a BA in Writing from St. Edward’s University. He lived overseas for twelve years and came to faith at age 31 in Krakow, Poland. He’s since been sharing the Gospel and held many jobs, including teacher, travel writer, and street performer.

Divine Mercy Novena Day Six

Day 6- The meek and humble souls and the souls of children

Today bring to Me the Meek and Humble Souls and the Souls of Little Children and immerse them in My mercy. These souls most closely resemble My Heart. They strengthened Me during My bitter agony. I saw them as earthly Angels, who will keep vigil at My altars. I pour out upon them whole torrents of grace. I favor humble souls with My confidence.

Most Merciful Jesus, You yourself have said, “Learn from Me for I am meek and humble of heart.” Receive into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart all meek and humble souls and the souls of little children. These souls send all heaven into ecstasy and they are the heavenly Father’s favorites. They are a sweet-smelling bouquet before the throne of God; God Himself takes delight in their fragrance. These souls have a permanent abode in Your Most Compassionate Heart, O Jesus, and they unceasingly sing out a hymn of love and mercy.

Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon meek souls, upon humble souls, and upon little children who are enfolded in the abode which is the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. These souls bear the closest resemblance to Your Son. Their fragrance rises from the earth and reaches Your very throne. Father of mercy and of all goodness, I beg You by the love You bear these souls and by the delight, You take in them: Bless the whole world, that all souls together may sing out the praises of Your mercy for endless ages. Amen.

Pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet

Save outside PWC on Good Friday

Dr. Monique Ruberu has shared about a baby being saved on Good Friday. She shares from the firsthand account of a new sidewalk servant that participated for the first time.

Christine is one of our newer sidewalk servants… like many of us she doesn’t like being there alone… but look what happens when we overcome our fears…

I was signed for this morning at Appletree but I realized no one was signed up for after 12.  So I decided to stay until I needed to leave to get to church this afternoon.
I have a very hard time approaching women to offer them resources, especially when I am alone.  Much of the time outside of the clinic, I pray.  Frankly, I am afraid.  Today, I asked the Holy Spirit to guide me and help me know what to say.
A car pulled off to the side of Appletree with a mother, a father and a toddler. The mother got out.  She paced the entrance of the clinic a few times.  I decided to approach her.  I said, “Excuse me, Miss. I noticed you have walked back and forth a few times.  Can I offer you some resources? There are people who can help you if you are in a difficult situation.”  She took the bag without saying anything and walked away from myself, the clinic, and her car and headed towards 8th Street. Thinking maybe she was using a Sid entrance to the clinic, I resumed prayer.  To my surprise she crossed 8th street, continuing away from the clinic and her family.
About 10 minutes later she came back and returned to the car.  The father of the baby was standing outside of the car with the other toddler. They were out of earshot but the mother went up to him and showed him one the unfolded Pro-Life pamphlets in our bag, pointing to it, showing him the contents.  They got in their car.
The car didn’t move for about 5 minutes. Maybe they were still weighing their options.  Maybe they were calling one of the numbers in the pamphlet.  I watched and prayed fervently that they would decide to leave.
Finally, they pulled away! I continue to pray for that family that they choose life and are given the resources and support that they need.
When we show up and pray hearts and minds are moved, people leave…
