The New Back Alley: Abortion Advocates Push for Lethal Drugs to be Available Online

Today’s back alley does not include coat-hangers. It doesn’t even involve a physical alleyway at all. Rather, today’s back alley is at your fingertips.

Back Alley Abortions

The following article is from Mark Harrington of Created Equal.

Vice President Seth Drayer has published a piece on the Created Equal blog exposing the unsupervised sale of abortion drugs. Abortion pills can be easily ordered online in a matter of minutes by anyone for as cheap as $90. Abortion supporters readily promote unregulated online pharmacies that sell and ship dangerous abortion drugs to women across the world, even in countries where abortion is illegal. The majority of these websites have no physician oversight. And the only one we could find connected to a physician is in direct violation of the authority of the FDA.

Read the rest on our blog.

The dangers of ordering abortion pills online have already led to breaking news in our home-base state of Ohio. Kalina Gillum, 21, and Braden Mull, 25, appeared in court in Licking County a few weeks ago, facing charges after they ordered medications online to abort their 28-week old baby. The baby died and was left in shoe box in a trash bag in their apartment. Police found the murdered child, after the hospital notified law officials when Gillum was admitted due to complications from her abortion.

While our movement seeks to protect children from the dangers of online abortion orders, many states are also passing legislation to ban doctors from prescribing abortion inducing drugs through telemedicine. Ohio is the 20th state to introduce a bill (Senate Bill 260) that bans telemedicine abortions. Created Equal was recently at the Ohio State House supporting this legislation.

Watch Gabriel Vance, our Director of External Affairs, testify in support of the telemedicine abortion ban. The testimony starts at 1:26:18.

Created Equal Video: From Violence to Respect

The following post and video is from Mark Harrington, President of Created Equal.

Columbus, OH – July 2, 2019 – “I talked to 10 people who changed their minds about abortion after answering two simple questions. What is the preborn? And is it ever okay to intentionally kill an innocent human being?” This was reported by Lexie, a member of Created Equal’s summer intern team. Since the beginning of the summer, our team of interns have been on the streets shaping culture—moving people to respect the rights of preborn people. Sometime our team returns with exciting numbers of minds changed, as did Lexie. Other times, they bring back footage of shocking interactions. Click the link below to watch one woman knock down our signs, then turn to apologize and make some surprising statements.

Since the beginning of 2019, 702 individuals have changed their mind on the spot while talking with our team. What makes the difference? Images of the victims paired with our team members creating respectful dialogue.

Throughout the summer, our interns will lead outreach in a variety of contexts—from college campuses to downtown squares. One of our most powerful efforts is reaching out to high school students. Explaining why this is, Esther, another member of our summer intern team, recently commented, “Upon seeing the victims of abortion, most of the students are horrified. Many of them have not spent any time thinking about abortion but they almost instinctively know that this is wrong.”

Esther illustrated with a recent story:

Two students stopped to talk to me the other day. One of the boys was looking at the image in shock. I asked him what he thought, and he responded that he had no idea what abortion was actually doing. He sheepishly mumbled that he did not realize what happened to the babies, that he thought they just kind of disappeared. I was able to talk to these two boys for a little while, and it was fascinating to see this realization come across their faces.

Our team is changing lives every day.

Created Equal is a social action movement consisting of young activists seeking to end the greatest human rights injustice of our time. Killing preborn babies is nothing less than age-based discrimination of the worst kind. Our goal is to restore the true meaning of equality to include equal protection between the born and the preborn. We will continue this work until the day abortion is abolished, but we need your help. Students Answer Call to Action – Inspiring New Video Captures Call to Action

from Mark Harrington, President, Created Equal

Columbus, OH – June 11, 2019 – “You can change how many little people will become little plaques on a wall.” Prepare to be moved. This morning, we’re releasing a brand new video taking you to the emotionally raw moment of being called to service. Created Equal recently stopped by the National Memorial for the Unborn with a bus load of new recruits ready to defend babies. Seeing thousands of plaques with names of babies killed by abortion, letters from parents begging for forgiveness, and gifts from children mourning the loss of siblings, the students were shocked to tears and stunned to silence. Experience the moment with them in the video below. Then read on to see what you can do.

After listening to Seth Drayer, our Vice President, deliver the charge you just heard, students featured in the video chose to dedicate their summer to full-time service to rescue babies. So far, they’ve already toured the east coast with our JumboTron TV. And they’re just getting started.

But what can you do?

Baby Supplies for Dakota
Mother of Three Chooses Life

baby supplies

from Mark Harrington, President, Created Equal

Recently, two of our team members met “Dakota” outside a Columbus abortion facility. We talked to her about what had brought her there, her value, and the value of the baby inside of her. After seeing the victims of abortion and what her child looks like, she went inside the abortion facility, cancelled her appointment, and let us walk her down the road to a pro-life Women’s Care Center. The following Monday, she announced she had decided to keep the baby!

Dakota is in need of several practical items, such as car seats, cribs, sheets, etc. for her preborn child and her born children. We would love to take her shopping for these needs and bless her with the love of Christ.

Will you join us in helping Dakota and her preborn baby?

Intensive training and activism put feet to our prayers

from Mark Harrington, President, Created Equal

Columbus, OH – April 24, 2019 – You’ve probably heard of the Day of Mourning where Christians gathered in Albany, NY to grieve the state of our nation because of the shedding of innocent blood from abortion/infanticide. In that same spirit, on July 16-17, 2019, Created Equal is calling on activists from across America to convene in Columbus, OH for a Day of Action.

Day of Action.jpg

On abortion, as Ohio goes, so goes the nation.
  • Ohio passed the nation’s most restrictive bill in history – The Heartbeat Bill.
  • Ohio is down to seven surgical abortion centers (only one left in Columbus).
  • Late-term abortionist Martin Haskell’s Women’s Medical Center may close soon, bringing the number of abortion centers down to six.
  • Ohio is a perennial battleground for the presidency. No presidential candidate has ever lost Ohio and has gone on to win the White House.

It’s time to put action to our prayers of mourning! Join us for:

  • Classroom training on the basics of the pro-life position. Learn how to winsomely and effectively articulate the pro-life view.
  • Activism at abortion centers, downtown public squares, overpasses, and the Ohio State House. By using prenatal and abortion victim images and video we will reach thousands with the message of life and the Gospel!

The Day of Action combines head knowledge with street activism. The experience of real-world debate is a life changing experience for our attendees.

With the abortion battle heating up nationwide and the Democratic Party Primary right around the corner, there is no better time or place to make your voice heard.

Ohio Representative Targets African-American Babies for Extermination by Abortion

from Mark Harrington, President of Created Equal

Columbus, OH – Apr 10, 2019 – Yesterday’s final Ohio House Health Committee hearing on theHeartbeat Bill (Senate Bill 23) came with a shocking twist. Representative Janine Boyd (D) of District 19 (Cleveland Heights) presented an amendment to allow the bill to protect all preborn children except African-American babies! The link to the Ohio Channel footage is below. Fast forward to 51:45 to watch Boyd discuss the amendment.

Boyd

Ohio’s Heartbeat Bill would protect babies from abortion once their heartbeat is detectable. Boyd’s last-minute amendment sought to change the bill to exempt African-American women—thus allowing only black babies to be killed while babies of all other ethnicities would enjoy legal protection. If the irony wasn’t clear enough, Boyd underscored it herself while introducing the amendment:

“I consider the slave trade and how black slaves were once treated like cattle and put out to stud in order to create generations of more slaves. . . . I consider how many pregnant slaves self-induced abortion so that they would not contribute children they had to the slave system. . . . And so I ask you, with all of your values, to consider that and vote yes to this amendment.”

To reference owning humans as a defense of dismembering them is moral myopia. If is wrong to own humans, it is also wrong to intentionally kill them.

Further, Boyd subtly connects African-American women giving birth today with forced births to perpetuate slavery. Referencing abortion to avoid consigning children to slavery, she seems to suggest black children today should likewise not be born—which is exactly the purpose of her amendment. All of this is deeply insulting to African-American men and women raising their families.

Mark Harrington, President of Created Equal said,

“Every human being is valuable regardless of the color of his or her skin. To suggest that only African-American babies with detectable heartbeats should be killed in Ohio is shocking racism not befitting of a representative of the Ohio House. Representative Boyd should apologize for this insulting amendment and demonstrate her good faith with a vote on the Ohio House floor in favor of the Heartbeat Bill.”

The Heartbeat Bill did pass out of committee. Floor votes—possibly in the Ohio House and Senate—are expected today. Stay tuned for updates.
