Please Comment on FDA Website

Last month, a citizens’ petition was filed with the FDA over the signatures of 180 physicians and representatives of institutions including the National Catholic Bioethics Center, the Catholic Medical Association, the Couple to Couple League, and the Gianna Center of Philadelphia.

Couple to Couple League board member Michael Manhart, PhD, a member of the Contraceptive Study Group which submitted the petition, said “Should this petition be acted on by FDA, the result would be new labeling for hormonal contraceptives which will impact direct-to-consumer advertising and likely make some physicians think twice about prescribing these to some patients.”

The petition is available for review and public comment here.

Please take a moment to register your experience and concerns. Dr. Manhart continued, “Public outcry will help motivate the FDA to act.”

Update on the FertilityCare Practitioners in Philadelphia

You are in Gods Hands

from Friends of FertilityCare Philadelphia

All of the Philadelphia area FertilityCare Practitioners (FCPs) are participating in the seminary prayer program, coordinated by Mrs. Liz Parrish, RN, CFCP. Every couple experiencing infertility or multiple miscarriages receives an invitation to have the St Charles Borromeo Seminarians pray for them.

According to Liz , “this program is unique as it offers the opportunity to be prayed for by name or anonymously if they choose.” Cards are given to the infertile couples during follow-up or during infertility support group meetings. These cards are returned to the Pro-Life Club at St. Charles Borromeo seminary. The cards are distributed to seminarians who pray for the couple, and the couples often in turn pray for the seminarians.

Gianna CenterThe FertilityCare Practitioners of Greater Philadelphia continue to grow in number. The picture to the left shows just a few of them who were able to attend the joyous occasion of the Gianna Center grand opening.

Celebrating the Grand Opening of The Gianna Center

from Friends of Fertility Care – Philadelphia

Barbara Rose

The Gianna Center of Philadelphia is open for business in East Norriton at Suburban Community Hospital, 2701 DeKalb Pike, Medical Arts Pavilion Suite 207.

Over 50 friends, patients and supporters joined Bishop John McIntyre and Montgomery County Commissioner Joe Gale for an office blessing and open house on Friday, April 26.  Anne Nolte, Executive Director of the National Gianna Center in New York City also came down for the day.  The Knights of Columbus Holy Family Council #3327 presented a check for $5,000 they had raised for the Gianna Center at an event in Bridgeport last month.

Exam rooms in the new office have been dedicated to John and Harriet Stanton, and to the Knights of Columbus in recognition of their extraordinary support.    Earlier this spring, regional councils of the Knights generously donated the cost of an ultrasound machine for the Gianna Center through a matching grant program from the Supreme Council’s Culture of Life Fund.  The Stantons are long-time bastions of the Philadelphia pro-Life community whose commitment has extended to the establishment of this center for women’s reproductive health.

The Gianna Center is open 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, to provide general gynecologic care, natural family planning education and infertility services that work cooperatively with a woman’s body to restore her natural reproductive health.

The office is led by Dr. Delia Larrauri, MD, FACOG, who is fluent in English and Spanish.  Nurse Practitioner Barbara Rose is a certified FertilityCare Practitioner who has been providing instruction in the Creighton Model FertilityCare System to women and couples in our region since 2004.
