URGENT — Congress to Vote on Proabortion ERA Shortcut Scheme

Pro-aborts have been busy pushing their bills through under the new regime.  But we must be ever vigilant and push back on these harmful bills.  Please see information from the National Right to Life and take the necessary action.

The pro-abortion movement is trying to “air drop” the 1972 Equal Rights Amendment into the U.S. Constitution!

If their unprecedented scheme is successful, pro-life legislation nationwide could be destroyed.

WASHINGTON– During the week of March 15, 2021, the U.S. House of Representatives will take up a measure that attempts to revive the long-expired Equal Rights Amendment. This unprecedented measure poses a dire threat to all pro-life laws and policies, state and federal. You must act now.

The Equal Rights Amendment is a constitutional amendment that Congress proposed in 1972, before the Supreme Court legalized abortion in Roe v. Wade (Jan. 1973). The ERA has a 7-year ratification deadline that expired 42 years ago. But now, the Democrat-controlled Congress will take up a measure (House Joint Resolution 17) that claims to retroactively remove the deadline, and to magically “air drop” the ERA instantly into the U.S. Constitution!

If this unprecedented scheme works, virtually all pro-life legislation nationwide might be permanently wiped out.

The National Organization for Women says the ERA “could negate hundreds” of pro-life laws. NARAL says “the ERA would reinforce the constitutional right to abortion…[it] would require judges to strike down anti-abortion laws…” Leaders of numerous other pro-abortion organizations, including Planned Parenthood, have made similar statements.

Please click here for instructions on how to make a quick phone call to the office of your U.S. House member, to urge him or her to oppose this sweeping pro-abortion resolution (House Joint Resolution 17).  You will be shown quick talking points that you can use during your call.

Please do not delay — the House will act within the next week.

If the House narrowly passes the measure, then the Senate will take it up — and only a filibuster by pro-life senators can stop it. A filibuster can only be ended by 60 votes.

All pro-life senators must be strongly urged to vote to block the ERA-revival measure (House Joint Resolution 17, or the Senate companion measure, Senate Joint Resolution 1).

The Senate Democratic leadership could take up the ERA as early as the week of March 22. Please click herefor the numbers to call, with easy talking points.

These calls will take just a few minutes. The stakes are very high. Please act today!

If Kamala Harris Becomes Vice President, There Will Be No “More Perfect Union” For Unborn Children

The following is from National Right to Life Committee.  Please everyone, make sure you go to the polls to vote this November and vote pro-life!!

WASHINGTON — As day three of the Democratic National Convention opened last week, the Democratic Party’s theme for that evening was “A More Perfect Union.” But if the Democratic Party prevails this November and Joe Biden and Kamala Harris become our nation’s President and Vice President, the losers will be unborn children and their mothers.

“As a presidential candidate, Sen. Harris pledged all-out support for a wide range of proabortion policies,” said Carol Tobias, president of the National Right to Life Committee. “Sen. Harris pledged to advance a radical agenda of abortion on demand and create policies that would severely curtail a state’s ability to pass any protective pro-life legislation.” As a member of Congress, Kamala Harris has a 100% life-time pro-abortion rating from NARAL Pro-Choice America which enthusiastically celebrated her selection as Joe Biden’s running mate.

While running for President, Sen. Harris introduced her “Reproductive Rights Act” action plan. Included in her plan were a series of sweeping pro-abortion policies and directives, such as:

• States and localities would be subject to a “preclearance requirement” if those states had a “pattern of violating Roe v. Wade in the preceding 25 years.” The “patterns” in question would be determined by the Department of Justice (DOJ).
• “No abortion law or practice will take effect until the Department of Justice certifies it comports with Roe v. Wade.”
• States would have to “prove any new law or practice does not deny or abridge” the so-called “right” to abortion.
• States and localities would be “required to submit any proposed change to DOJ. If the jurisdiction is unable to prove the change comports with Roe and the Women’s Health Protection Act, DOJ must object to the change.” To ensure that states would be forced into lockstep with the pro-abortion policies her administration would have pursued.
• A Department of Justice in a Kamala Harris Administration would have “an affirmative duty to review submissions and make formal determinations” regarding any pro-life laws passed by states or localities.
• Abortionists would have “the ability to challenge DOJ’s approval of a law or practice in federal court, serving as a check on hostile administrations.”

As a presidential candidate, Sen. Harris promised to protect Planned Parenthood from attempts to defund the abortion giant. In addition, she also vowed to nominate judges who would support Roe v. Wade and would work to reverse the Hyde Amendment. Her administration would also have promoted abortion around the world.

“Joe Biden’s choice of Kamala Harris sends a clear message that a Biden/Harris Administration would be hostile to the unborn child and her mother,” said Tobias. “Under a Biden/Harris administration, more and more children would die in abortions and their mothers would suffer.”

National Right to Life Praises State Affiliates Asking that State and Federal Directives Apply to Abortion Facilities

Below is a press release from the National Right to Life regarding the disparity of facilities allowed to operate during the coronavirus pandemic.  If you state is still allowing abortion mills to remain open while closing other businesses I suggest you contact your elected officials and let them know that Planned Parenthood and other abortion centers are not essential businesses and should be closed for the safety of everyone, including the preborn babies whom they wish to kill.

corona virus

WASHINGTON, D.C.—As health care workers face the challenge of caring for a staggering number of patients with coronavirus, abortion facilities are conducting business as usual.

National Right to Life’s state affiliates have led the way in urging state officials to close abortion facilities as non-essential medical services. Closing facilities would protect clients and staff from possible exposure to COVID-19 and free up medical supplies and personal protection equipment for use by hospitals during the coronavirus pandemic.

“We praise our state affiliates for leading the way in challenging the abortion industry’s ‘business as usual’ response to the coronavirus pandemic,” stated Carol Tobias, president of National Right to Life. “During this time, it is vital that all available U.S. resources be focused on turning the tide of the pandemic.”

Pro-abortion groups and their allies are challenging orders from governors in several states who are calling for a ban on all non-essential surgical procedures—including abortions. Federal and state officials have called for a halt to all elective surgeries so medical care can be focused on those in immediate need and personal protection equipment can be reserved for those on the frontlines in the pandemic. The abortion industry has ignored calls to close abortion facilities and is continuing to pursue the destruction of unborn babies for monetary gain.

“Thousands of surgical procedures have been put on hold, millions of Americans are practicing social distancing, several states have issued stay-at-home orders, and thousands are hospitalized with coronavirus, yet abortion clinics are conducting business as usual,” stated Tobias.

In addition, abortion proponents and apologists are calling for telemedicine abortions using RU-486. However, a recent press release by the American Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists noted that approximately 5% of all RU-486 abortions result in emergency room visits—most often because of hemorrhaging. These visits would put women at risk of contracting coronavirus and strain the resources of already stretched emergency room personnel.

“While hospitals and emergency rooms struggle to care for those affected by coronavirus and lives are lost daily to this disease, abortion facilities are deliberately taking the lives of unborn children and calling it ‘essential care’” stated Jennifer Popik, J.D., legislative director for National Right to Life. “Taking the life of an unborn baby is not essential care for the mother or her baby.”

“National Right to Life affiliates have been leading the way to see that abortion clinics comply with directives to cease non-essential services,” said Ingrid Duran, National Right to Life’s director of State Legislation. “States that have called for abortion facilities to stop abortion procedures include Alabama, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Mississippi, Ohio, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, and West Virginia.”

Temporary restraining orders halting or preventing state directives to stop elective abortions have been issued in Texas, Ohio, and Alabama.
