Gov. Wolf Wants to Force You to Add to Planned Parenthood’s Profits. Take Action Now!

If you live in Pennsylvania, you should be really concerned about the Governor of this state’s intent.   As a former ‘deathscort’ for Planned Parenthood, he does not have the best interest of the majority of the people who live in Pennsylvania, especially the most vulnerable, the preborn.  He is and always will be owned by Planned Parenthood and will stop at nothing to see them thrive in Pennsylvania.  Please contact your state legislators today (see info provided by Michael Geer, President of the Pennsylvania Family Institute below).

Wolf

If it wasn’t bad enough for Governor Tom Wolf to veto several good pieces of pro-life legislation, he’s once again going after pro-life Pennsylvanians. This time it’s trying to put your tax dollars into the pockets of Planned Parenthood. But not if we can stop him.

Take Action

Use our Citizen Action Center today to tell your State Senator and State Representative that taxpayers should fund healthcare, not abortion. To email, click here or go to pafamily.org/fundcare.

It’s sadly not a shock to see Governor Wolf add new funding for abortion businesses like Planned Parenthood into this year’s budget proposal. He is, after all, a former volunteer escort for the state’s largest abortion business. He’s also been on the receiving end of Planned Parenthood’s record spending on pro-abortion candidates in recent Pennsylvania elections.

Here it is: Line Item 326, adding $3 million for “Access to Reproductive Health Care.”

PA chart

This new line item was added to circumvent the Trump administration’s Protect Life Rule, which ensures that 100% of Title X funding goes to clinics who actually provide health care to low-income women, and prohibits this taxpayer funding from being funneled to clinics that perform or refer for abortions.

But no matter how pro-abortion our Governor is, he cannot expect Pennsylvania taxpayers to add to Planned Parenthood’s profits.

Not only does Planned Parenthood commit half of all abortions in Pennsylvania, but half of its abortion facilities failed a state health inspection in 2019. And their state operations made over $2.6 million in profits in their last reporting year alone. It’s adding insult to injury, trying to force taxpayers to fund the state’s largest abortion business that’s failing health inspections and already making millions every year.

The good news is the budget must be approved by our state senators and state representatives. That’s why we encourage you to take part in our ‘Fund Care, Not Abortion’ campaign to let your elected leaders know we should not be sending more of our tax dollars to anyone performing or referring for abortions.

Thank you for contacting these elected officials and for sharing this with others to do the same. I end with this, from the words of former Pennsylvania Governor Bob Casey, Sr. nearly thirty years ago:

“What kind of a people are we? What kind of a people will we be? If we abandon the principle of respect for human life by making the value of a life depend on whether someone else thinks that life is worthy or wanted, we will become one sort of people.

But there is a better way. We can choose to reaffirm our respect for human life. We can choose to extend once again the mantle of protection to all members of the human family, including the unborn. We can choose to provide effective care of mothers and children.

And if we make those choices, America will experience a new birth of freedom, bringing with it a renewed spirit of community, compassion, and caring.”

May we do all we can to be the kind of people that respect human life and help us return to a new birth of freedom here in Pennsylvania.

Committee Votes to Stop the Prenatal Targeting of Babies with Down Syndrome

Below is a Press Release from the Pennsylvania Family Institute on House Bill 321, Down Syndrome Protection Act.   If you would, please say thank you to these Senate Committee members who just voted Yes on the Down Syndrome Protection Act. Contact information is below.

PA Family Institute applauds vote on House Bill 321 and the effort to end the targeting of babies with a prenatal diagnosis of Down syndrome.

A Life Worth Living

(HARRISBURG, PA – November 18, 2019) Pennsylvania Family Institute applauds today’s vote by the PA Senate Health Committee on the Down Syndrome Protection Act, House Bill 321, as another step towards truly celebrating people with Down syndrome in Pennsylvania.

“Today’s vote, along with the passage by the PA House, sends a compassionate message to Pennsylvania communities that no human being should be targeted for death by abortion because of a disability.” says Michael Geer, President of the Pennsylvania Family Institute.

“We are thankful for the leadership of Senator Scott Martin (R-Lancaster) and Representative Kate Klunk (R-York County) in sponsoring this legislation, for Senator Michele Brooks (R-Mercer) and her leadership in the Senate Health Committee and for all the

Senators who voted in favor of this much-needed legislation.”

The Down Syndrome Protection Act would prohibit an abortion solely based on a diagnosis of possible Down Syndrome, and would augment the Pennsylvania law that already prohibits abortions solely based on the sex of the baby. Families across Pennsylvania join international disability rights champions such as Joni Eareckson Tada and  Karen Gaffney in strongly supporting this legislation.

“Countries like Iceland and Denmark are aborting nearly every child diagnosed with Down syndrome in the womb,” comments Dan Bartkowiak, Director of Communications for the Pennsylvania Family Institute. “Here in America, we’re trending towards Iceland with the majority of babies diagnosed with Down syndrome being

aborted. Pennsylvania is better than this. Let’s stop medical professionals from coercing women to abort their child solely because of Down syndrome, and let’s truly celebrate people with Down syndrome for the wonderful contributions they make to our state.”

Under current Pennsylvania law, a woman can obtain an abortion prior to 24 weeks gestational age for any reason if a physician deems it is necessary, except if the woman’s sole reason is to select the sex of the child. This bill would simply expand that exception.

The PA House of Representatives already passed HB321 back in May by a 117-76 vote. The bill now goes to the full Senate for consideration.

“We call on the Senate to pass this important legislation to stop this form of eugenics by protecting the most vulnerable among our citizens.”

Exciting New Pro-life Legislation Kicks off Monday, Oct 21 in Pennsylvania

Pennsylvania Heartbeat Bill Being Introduced on Monday

The following is from the Pennsylvania Family Institute.  They are looking for as many people as possible to attend this rally.  Please gather in the Media Room in the Capitol basement at 10:00 am.

On Monday, October 21st, Senator Doug Mastriano (R-Adams) and State Representative Stephanie Borowicz (R-Clinton) will help lead other elected officials and pro-life Pennsylvanians in introducing Senate Bill 912 and House Bill 1977 – the Heartbeat Bill. The introductory press conference is open to the public and we encourage you to join us at the announcement starting at 10 am at the PA State Capitol.

What is the Heartbeat Bill? This legislation would improve our current state law by protecting unborn children from abortion after a heartbeat is detected. Under current law, abortion is permitted up through 24 weeks into pregnancy (six months in pregnancy) – an outdated determination of life based on the subjective nature of viability. Pennsylvania’s Heartbeat Bill would protect thousands of babies every year throughout our state.

Take Action: When you hear a heartbeat, you hear life. Please contact your State Senator and State Representative in support of the Heartbeat Bill – click here to email them your support.

If you would like to attend the Heartbeat Bill press conference / rally on Monday, October 21, please contact Dan Bartkowiak at dbart@pafamily.org.

We will have plenty more to share on Monday and in the weeks to come so stay tuned.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders to be Keynote Speaker at Pennsylvania Family Institute Banquet

Please join the Pennsylvania Family Institute in celebrating their 30th anniversary in Hershey on Friday September 27 and  hear from former White House Press Secretary, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the keynote speaker. Information on tickets and sponsorships is listed below.

Sarah

from Michael Geer, President & CEO – Pennsylvania Family Institute

This September, PA Family Institute marks our 30th anniversary, and I hope you can join me to celebrate!

One month from today, it will be 30 years since PA Family Institute opened its doors. I remember the day vividly as I settled into a small, one-room office in Harrisburg, excited to lead this new organization and give voice to families like yours across Pennsylvania.

By God’s grace, and thanks to people like you partnering with us, we now have become Pennsylvania’s leading pro-life, pro-family voice – making a significant difference for generations to come.

Thirty years is quite the milestone. And we want to celebrate it with the people that have made it all possible – you. What’s more, we’ve got big plans for the future — and Lord knows our children and grandchildren need us to stand up on their behalf now more than ever. That’s why I’m inviting you to join us for our 30th Anniversary Celebration Banquet in Hershey on Friday evening, September 27th. You won’t want to miss the big announcement we’re making that night — and I’m sure you’ll want to hear our exciting featured guest keynote speaker, Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders served as White House Press Secretary and has become one of the leading voices of her generation. A mother of three, she’s someone with extraordinary talents whom TIME Magazine recognized as one of their “40 under 40.” And she recognizes the importance of family. When TIME asked what is one of the most overlooked issues facing our nation, she responded, “America needs more fathers taking an active role in their children’s lives.”

Her hero is her father, former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee, who has been a previous PA Family Institute banquet speaker and worked closely with our sister organization in Arkansas during his time as governor.

I’d love for you to join us, and to consider sponsoring a table for this exciting event. Some sponsorship levels include a private reception with Mrs. Sanders, and your sponsorship helps generously support the work of the Pennsylvania Family Institute. We expect this event will be a sell-out; individual dinner tickets will be made available in the near future.

I do hope you will join us in Hershey on Friday, September 27th. We will also be joined by another special guest, Bob Vander Plaats, President and CEO of The FAMiLY Leader, which is our sister organization in Iowa, who will join us for a big announcement in advancing our cause in Pennsylvania and beyond.

For sponsorship information, please visit our website or you may call us at 717-545-0600.

For anyone celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary, the “official” gift to mark this tremendous occasion are pearls. A pearl literally means “unique” and represents something that has endured and lasted under pressure.

I am truly grateful, looking back over the years, about how this organization has been able to last under a variety of pressures and has continued to endure – and thrive! This is a testimony ultimately to God’s kindness through the lasting, sacrificial support from families like yours.

Planned Parenthood Pennsylvania – Business of Abortion and Politics

Here is something that should make everyone angry.  How they manage to use our tax dollars to help get their candidates elected is beyond me.  This is unconscionable  and should be illegal.

PP of PA.png

Did you know:

• Planned Parenthood has received over $22 million in taxpayer dollars since 2012.

• Planned Parenthood performs 40 abortions every day. That’s over 1,000 classrooms gone every year.

• Planned Parenthood pledged $1.5 million to gubernatorial candidate Tom Wolf and other pro-abortion candidates in 2018 – a record investment.

If you’ve seen the movie Unplanned, you’ve seen abortion and the activities of Planned Parenthood, the largest abortion business in Pennsylvania, through an important window given to us by Abby Johnson, a former Planned Parenthood director.

To further open that window, we have put together ten facts about their activities in Pennsylvania. View the facts: PaFamily.org | Facebook | Two-page printable handout
