Despite the hard work of canvassers through Students for Life Action, the pro-life amendment has failed to get enough yes votes with 58% voting again the life-saving amendment during yesterday’s state primary.

The pro-life amendment would have added language to the Kansas Constitution stating that there is no right to an abortion or taxpayer-funded abortion. Although it would not ban the killing of unborn babies in abortions, it would allow the voter-elected state legislature to do so.

“Without this amendment, even barbaric late-term abortions will be allowed,” said Harrison Butker, kicker for the Kansas City Chiefs, in an ad supporting the amendment. “This amendment will let Kansans decide what we do on abortions, not judges and not D.C. politicians.”

It is a sad day that a so-called “Conservative State” in the middle of the heartland of the United States chose death over life.

Pro-lifers all across the board must double their efforts to ensure life is protected from womb to tomb.

August To Do List

August is upon us. We are also entering the second full month since the Dobbs decision.

We are seeing many back to school commercials, summer deals, and for the whole nation the political ads as we are less than a 100 days away from the general election.

Here is a list for the month of August

  1. Collect items for children in need of school supplies
  2. Take part in prayer vigils in your community
  3. Make a Holy Hour for Life
  4. Volunteer to make blessing bags with your group
  5. Recruit new members on campus, your parish, or even at school
  6. Make plans to attend your state March for Life
  7. Host a pro-life movie screening and raise funds for pro-life PRC or for a mom in need
  8. Make meals for the homeless
  9. Give a talk to youth and or young adults about the pro-life message

Happy August

As the first entire month of the Post-Roe Era concluded, Pro-lifers in the Greater Philadelphia area attended Mass at the Basilica of Sts. Peter and Paul Cathedral.

Archbishop Nelson Perez was the main celebrant. In his homily, he alluded to the fact that life “is the most sacred gift from God.” He reminded those gathered that with the lord’s help lives will be saved.

Following Mass, Dr. Monique Ruberu encouraged everyone that the work to save lives is not over. “While Roe was reversed, pro-lifers are tempted to sit back and think that it’s over. It’s not. It continues in Philly as more than 10,000 lives are murdered on an annual basis.”

Big families, religious, seasoned and callow pro-lifers, and even regular attendees were all in attendance for Mass. It was a day to remember for all.

If you live in the Philadelphia area, you are encouraged to step up, pray for one hour, offer your talents to advance and cultivate a culture of life, and most importantly offer love and mercy on the sidewalks.

Post-Roe Turns One Month

It’s hard to believe that it has been one month since Dobbs v Jackson case was decided. Since the decision, nearly half the country have or will restrict abortion thanks to pro-life laws passed by state legislature.

Unfortunately, for many states controlled by pro-abortion leaders, the hard work and perseverance must be doubled. At the same time, those of us who live in states that have banned abortion should continue to be on the alert to ensure its state defends life at its earliest stage. No doubt this will be at stake in many senate, congressional, and gubernational races.

Take the first step today in doubling your efforts to defend life and end abortion. The issue is not settled in the state capitals, city halls, or even the legislative or executive branches. Instead, this can be settled in our homes, communities, and even on the public square when we change the hearts and minds of those who are directly or indirectly involved with the Culture of Death.

Never give up, persevere. The abortion lobby’s house of cards will soon fall.

We just witnessed the fall of Goliath thanks to Dobbs v Jackson. Now, we must chase after the Philistines and have them surrender.

In the days following the Dobb v Jackson case, a reporter for the Philadelphia Inquirer reached out to activists on both sides of the debate.

In the article (see here) they shared their conversations with friends, family, and at time co-workers on how they engaged on the issues before and after the decision.

Local activists Pete and Mickey were featured in the article for the pro-life side. Kudos to both taking time to do this, particularly Mickey, one of the many young adults involved in the Greater Philadelphia area.

Planned Parenthood Facility in Center City, Defended by Re. Brian Sims, Has Failed Thirteen State Inspections

The following is an article from The Daily Caller’s contributor, Rachel Stoltzfoos. She published an article about a Planned Parenthood that Rep. Brian Sis defends failed health inspections. It is being republished with her permission.

The Planned Parenthood clinic where Pennsylvania state Rep. Brian Sims harassed pro-life protesters has a terrible track record with state health and safety inspectors.

Inspectors failed the Philadelphia clinic in 13 of its last 23 inspections, including a revisit in 2018 because it had not corrected the deficiencies identified in a prior visit. Inspectors also identified a wide range of safety problems at the clinic since 2011, including failure to report sex abuse of children and improper storage of aborted babies, according to records from the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
Sims visited the clinic last week and filmed himself harassing pro-life protesters, including a woman and three young girls who told him they were there to pray for the babies. “I’ve got $100 to anyone who will identify any of these three,” he said, after referring to them as “pseudo-Christians” there solely for the purpose of “shaming young girls.”

Sims did not immediately respond to a request for comment regarding the health and safety record of the clinic.

The clinic passed its most recent inspection posted online in March 2019, but it is unclear what disciplinary or corrective action was taken regarding its past failures. A spokeswoman at the Pennsylvania Department of Health said those records are not available, except by a freedom of information request.

The most egregious failing at the clinic is its failure to follow Pennsylvania child abuse laws, which stipulate a child under the age of 13 is incapable of consenting to sex, and that sex with a child under the age of 16 is a crime if the offender is four or more years older than the child. Health care providers including this clinic are required under the law to report these crimes.
The clinic was found to have failed to report multiple instances in which unmarried girls under the age of 15 came to them pregnant. One of the girls, who was only 13, indicated on a form she first had sex when she was 11. The clinic did not report these instances of potential abuse and criminal violations to the state.

Additionally, the clinic was found on multiple inspections over the years to be in violation of safety protocols, such as fire safety standards and proper disposal and storage of biohazardous waste. In one 2015 visit, inspectors found ice and frost build up in a freezer, where the remains of aborted babies were improperly stored in red biohazard bags.

Inspectors also found unsanitary conditions in several visits, including a container of used needles spilled and scattered on the floor of a biohazard room, and failure to meet standards about the storage of drugs.

“The recovery area revealed multiple darkened stained areas on the carpeted floor,” a 2015 inspection report found. “The cushion of a patient bench had multiple darkened stains.”
Blogger’s Note: The clinic also failed seven of their last 14 building inspections. Yet they want their doors to stay open. It’s time to make our voices heard. It’s time to pray for the shut down of Planned Parenthood, no matter what.

Pray for the closing of Planned Parenthood, no matter what.

The Hero Priest of France and The Cowardly Cardinal of New York

The presence is real.

Out of Tuesday’s tragedy in France, as the world watched in horror as  Notre Dame Cathedral burned, we witnessed a beautiful example of extraordinary heroism.

Father Jean-Marc Fournier, the chaplain of the Paris Fire Brigade, saved the Blessed Sacrament and the Crown of Thorns from the blazing cathedral.

Why would a man risk his life to save a piece of bread from burning, collapsing 800-year-old cathedral where he could have been killed in an instant?

He risked his life because, as Catholics, we not only believe, but we know with absolute certainty that the consecrated host is the actual Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus Christ, our Lord, and Savior.

This heroic man was willing to risk his life, likely without hesitation, to save Christ from the fire. He reveres, honors, loves and defends Christ in the Eucharist.

By contrast, in the state of New York, Governor Andrew Cuomo professes to be Catholic while endorsing, legislating, and defending abortion and the murder of newborn infants.

Cuomo also persecutes Christians and people of good faith who oppose his blood lust zealotry, calling them bigots and hate mongers and telling them they are not welcome in the state of New York. He is an agent of deception and evil.

Yet Cardinal Timothy Dolan of New York will not rush into the burning fire of Governor Cuomo’s deceit and falsehood to defend Christ from sacrilege by denying this modern-day Judas the Eucharist.

No — the cardinal gives excuses and reasons and just wants to go along to get along. The horrible examples to the faithful are not just scandalous, they are demonic.

If the television game show Jeopardy were played in hell, the words of Cardinal Dolan would be on full display under the category, “Things the Devil Might Say.”

In a prepared statement, Cardinal Dolan explained that excommunication of Governor Cuomo would not be effective because “many politicians would welcome it as a sign of their refusal to ‘be bullied by the Church.'”

We know, of course, that his words are pointless and those of a politician, not a shepherd who cares for the souls of his flock.

During Holy Week, let us pray for Father Jean-Marc Fournier and that God in His mercy will raise up courageous priests, bishops, and cardinals in the generations to come.

A Timely Reflection From Sunday’s Second Reading; Stand Firm for Faith

Sunday, March 17th marked the second Sunday of Lent. We have heard of a powerful reading from Paul’s Letter to the Philippians.

Here’s a recap:

Join with others in being imitators of me, brothers and sisters,
and observe those who thus conduct themselves
according to the model you have in us.
For many, as I have often told you
and now tell you even in tears,
conduct themselves as enemies of the cross of Christ.
Their end is destruction.
Their God is their stomach;
their glory is in their “shame.”
Their minds are occupied with earthly things.
But our citizenship is in heaven,
and from it, we also await a savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.
He will change our lowly body
to conform with his glorified body
by the power that enables him also
to bring all things into subjection to himself.

Therefore, my brothers and sisters,
whom I love and long for, my joy and crown,
in this way stand firm in the Lord.

This reading really speaks to us as we are two weeks into the current 40 Days Campaign. We have had our shares of triumph, sorrow, and woes. Times of being dissed for our stance in the abortion debate. More importantly, losing friendships because of our convictions. St Paul reminds us to stand firm. We must stand firm in protecting every innocent baby that is scheduled to die by an abortion provider near you. Let us stand tall and fight the forces of evil with our spiritual weapons, fasting, and almsgiving. Offer it up for those who mock and persecute you, the escorts, the workers, and even supporters of Planned Parenthood.

When the going gets hard, STAND FIRM FOR THE FAITH!

40 Days for Life: Philadelphia Women’s Center

The Spring 2019 40 Days for Life Campaign will start on Wednesday, March 6th. In Philadelphia, there will be three simultaneous campaigns happening. 11,000 very young humans died from abortion in the city of brotherly love. The facility that leads the way in the slaughter of the innocents is located at 777 Appletree Street called the Philadelphia Women’s Center.

They are responsible for killing 6,061 babies in 2017. That number remains high for 2018. There is a solution to it and that is giving your time to shower your love, mercy, and light to a place filled with hatred, selfishness, and darkness.

All we need are bold pro-life groups (college, young adult, dance, high school, mom, and even parish) to come and fill the most desperate hours to fill the mother’s great need. Need 1-2 people minimum at each hour. Will have blessing bags available for you to hand out or you can just stand with love and prayer…

Hours needed to be filled here are March 6th to April 13th. Hours are 8AM-3PM Tuesday thru Saturday

To sign up for hours at this vigil site, please visit: https://40daysforlife.com/local-campaigns/philadelphia-appletree/ or email Monique Ruberu at roobearoo@hotmail.com. PTEABlog end of post
