Recap On Trump’s State of the Union Address

90 minutes. That’s how long President Trump has spoken. He has made it an historical address. One that will long be remember by every pro-life advocate.

In his speech, President Trump has called out Governors Andrew Cuomo and Ralph Northam for their support of infanticide and late term abortion.  In his words:

“There could be no greater contrast to the beautiful image of a mother holding her infant child than the chilling displays our nation saw in recent days.

Lawmakers in New York cheered with delight upon the passage of legislation that would allow a baby to be ripped from the mother’s womb moments before birth. These are living, feeling, beautiful babies who will never get the chance to share their love and dreams with the world.

And then, we had the case of the governor of Virginia where he stated he would execute a baby after birth. To defend the dignity of every person, I am asking Congress to pass legislation to prohibit the late-term abortion of children who can feel pain in the mother’s womb.”

He goes on to encourage a culture that embraces all life because: “all children are made in the image of God.”

Sadly many members of congress, a majority of them women, were wearing white pantsuits to support woman. They seem to have forgotten the many women who have been aborted worldwide in countries like China, India, and North Korea.

In addition to slamming the recent infanticide bills, President Trump took time to honor Joshua Kaufman (man saluting a soldier waving), a survivor of the Dachau Concentration Camp.  He also acknowledged the presence of two survivors of the Tree of Life Synagogue Shooting last October. One was Judah Samet. Samet was no stranger to survivor as he also survived the Jewish holocaust during World War II.  The other survivor was Timothy Matson, a member of the Pittsburgh Police Department who helped saved dozens of lives during the heinous hate crime that fateful day.

It is time to take to heart our president’s words to build a culture that respects and nourishes life from the moment of conception until natural death.  It will be a long and challenging task at hand, yet love, truth, and mercy is on our side. We must not lose sight of hope in the culture of despair and death.

Reflection on the Reading from the Prophet Jeremiah

I am just blown away from the amazing word of God. Last week it was Paul’s letter to the Church of Corinth. This past Sunday it is the Prophet Jeremiah.

Here’s the full reading:

The word of the LORD came to me, saying:
Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,
before you were born I dedicated you,
a prophet to the nations I appointed you.

But do you gird your loins;
stand up and tell them
all that I command you.
Be not crushed on their account,
as though I would leave you crushed before them;
for it is I this day
who have made you a fortified city,
a pillar of iron, a wall of brass,
against the whole land:
against Judah’s kings and princes,
against its priests and people.
They will fight against you but not prevail over you,
for I am with you to deliver you, says the LORD. Jer 1:4-5, 17-19

I find it perfect timing as we have seen in recent headlines with how states under Catholic in name only pro-aborts wants to allow abortion up until they baby is born alive. Have we forgotten the Kermit Gosnell? It seems Cuomo, Northam,  and many other are okay with the killing of innocent life in the mother’s womb. We need to take time to realize that we were created by the love of God.  God knew us at the moment we were conceived.  Have we had the opportunity to give thanks for being created?

Life is a beautiful gift. Let’s cherish it.
